[release] Multi-Plugin, Fonts & Menu Hiding Mods and Unknown Album Mod for iTunes 4.7

Hi everybody.

Here are the updated versions of my stuff :)

(Right click and Save Target As)

Multi-Plugin 0.52 for iTunes 4.7: http://members.lycos.co.uk/forum2new/iTune...52_iTunes47.exe

Fonts, Menu Hiding, and Unknown Album mods: http://members.lycos.co.uk/forum2new/iTunes/Mods.rar

For those who don't know, here are the descriptions of what all these do:

Multi-Plugin:

Skins iTunes's Titlebar (Graphics by susumu!)

Copies the name of the current song to the clipboard

Creates a file with the current song info

Changes iTunes's window caption to "Artist - Song - iTunes" format

Minimize To Tray (it takes a LOT less memory when in tray than iTunes's own Minimize To Tray feature)

Control when iTunes will be Always-On-Top or not shown in the taskbar

Makes programs recognize iTunes as if it were Winamp

Makes ObjectBar recognize iTunes's menu (it doesn't work very well since the menus got changed in 4.7 :/)

Makes multimedia keys work when iTunes is not active (in some keyboards they work anyway, but in mine they didn't so i made this feature ;))

Integration with EvilLyrics for finding a song's lyrics

Of course, all these are options, you don't have to use them all.

Fonts Mod:

Replaces the font used in iTunes (Tahoma) with a font similiar to Lucida Grande.

Menu Hiding Mod:

Hides iTunes's menu. You can still access it by pressing Alt+Down or by hovering the place where the menu was.

"Unknown Album" Mod:

If you let iTunes organize your music library, you have probably noticed it organizes the files this way:

iTunes MusicArtistAlbumTrack# Name.mp3

if the Album tag is missing, it will put the file in a folder called "Unknown Album" inside the Artist folder.

After applying this mod, songs that don't have an Album tag will be organized this way:

iTunes MusicArtistTrack# Name.mp3

hooray! quick question: are the button glyphs the iFix mod, or your original buttons?

iFix mod :)

#224782

wow!

this is what dreams are made of ^_^

one question though, any chance of adding an option to choose the format of filenames when iTunes is organizing music/ripping?

for example i have all of my mp3 in Artist - Song.mp3 format and hate how iTunes rips/organizes in Track # Song.mp3 format :/

Thanks localhost!

#224789

the Unknown Album patch works by redirecting every call of CreateDirectory() one level up...that's all...messing with the files would be a lot harder, because i would need to read their ID3 tags, create directories for them, and so on...i'm almost sure it's possible, but it really needs a lot of work and testing for it to be stable in every case on top of iTunes' own organizing method...

if there is a developer that is willing to work on this, feel free to PM me to get details about how it works :)

#224796

Everything works great. Thanks for the updated release, localhost !!!!

I have added a couple of HOSTS for the files to help out. If this unacceptable, let me know and I will pull.

#224820

i just wish i had a good host of my own with a download counter so i could have some stats about the downloads...

#224825

Great work as always, thanks localhost.

its very nice and i like the instaler, but anybody wana make the real itunes glyphys? (non ifix style)

#224831

nah, you don't want those, mntnbkr1065. Believe me, these look much better.

#224834

If anyone wants to use Lucida Grande or Lucida Grande Bold instead of AquaBase with this font mod, I recommend you look here

EDIT: Also if anyone doesn't like the iFix glyphs, go here to download the original glyphs.

last time i used the multi plugin it made itunes a resource hog, running at 34mb regardless of shown or not. Only after completeling reinstalling iTunes did it go back to 15mb shown, 9 hidden.

Any possible cause of this? Cause I love your plugin, and I would like to use it again, but only if it doesnt make itunes suck me dry.

Great work.

are you sure it's my plugin that causes this?

here iTunes is using 42mb when visible and the same 42mb hidden.

when using my plugin it's 43mb at startup, about 4mb hidden, and 19mb after restoring from hidden mode.

did you try 0.52 or a version prior to 0.5? i know 0.4 wasn't so stable so there might be some leaks there...

in the next version, i hope i'll succeed making an option to bypass loading of useless graphics, so iTunes with Multi-Plugin will take less memory than without it...

Thank Works like a charm

I just wated to make sure that this takes effect only if u let itunes organize ur music

#225103

yep, it just mods iTunes's behavior - it's not a whole new organizing method...

Hey,

I've noticed that the checkbox for "make programs recognize iTunes as Winamp" doesn't change the setting. If unchecked it will be checked on the next iTunes session. I was able to change the setting from the registry, just wanted to let you know.

;)

#225116

Fantabuloso as always. Thanks very much for always doing the ugrades so quickly. You rock.

damn, i was sure i fixed it a long time ago :slant:

for those affected, you can change the setting in the registry this way:

1) Open regedit.exe

2) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREApple Computer, Inc.iTunesloc[a]lhost

3) Change the "WinAmp" setting from 1 to 0 (1 enables recognition as WA, 0 disables it)

4) Restart iTunes

i was using .52, and i'm 99% sure it was your plugin, I tried changing all kinds of settings and everything with the pluin installed and without it, and every time it was only slowed with your plugin.

I'll give this one a shot, maybe it will turn out better since i just formatted and reinstalled windows.

#225159

But it seems this mod makes the feature "hiding into system tray" disappear!!!
