You guys... its simply a different style of a minium icon set. How many aqua mods have the people in this community created? Do we say.. "hey you ripped apple that looks very similar to their aqua style" no we give them a pat on the back because they successfully cloned/modded the peice of art. I see it as.. a taste of minuim before its released... lou created every pixel in PS (yes it looks like minium) but no its not a rip... its a mod 
Mod = different varriation of an already designed style
rip = look i made something called windows I'm the original author.
Lou Simply created a different varriation of the minium style he did not rip it.

Lou's icons do violate international and US copyright law because they fall under the legal definition of variations of a given work.
But if I was you, Id drop it. Aqua-Soft.org violates international copyright law. Every Aqua icon youve used or created a variation of, every smooth stripes skin, every iTunes mod and 99% of the things on this site fall under the same definition that you are accussing Lou of violating. So either drop it or dont visit here. MAKE NO MISTAKE, IF YOU USE AN AQUA BASED THEME OR ICON YOU HAVE NO LEEWAY TO POINT FINGERS AT WHO IS VIOLATING COPYRIGHT.
Let me pick on pe8er for a second (no offense amigo) - who gave you permission to use that World of Aqua icon for an avatar? That avatar is public use, and violates Dave's copyright. Look at everyones avatars, and think hard if you want to discuss copyright law. I can count no less than 10 people violating copyright just by replying to this thread. Whats good for the goose guys...

This is my last post on this subject.. DZ.. this is where you and I disagree. I am talking less about copyright law and more about respect. I would not release a smoothstripes skin without first asking Max Rudberg. Why? Because I have respect for him and his work and it is the right thing to do. Here is another example... Last week I made some drive icons. I really like how they turned out... but they have a lot of similarities to glides icons. Did I release them? or even post a preview? I did not.. again out of repsect for the author of equal. I do agree that many things that are posted on this site violate copyright law in some manner, but what you are now saying is that is it actually okay for me to go ahead and release the three COTL gui studio ports I have done? Even though I cant get permisssion? (I wont of course, because of respect for COTL's wishes)
My point is, I wish that Lou would have respect for others, the same respect that Lou demanded from CRNI during the whole "matrix" graphics issue. Yes he made the images from scratch...Yes they are good... but the biggest problem I have is that he didnt, isnt and wont come out and say yes these icons are 90 percent minium and 10 percent my own ideas. I would find it alot easier to respect Lou if this were the case.
Again Lou, dont take this the wrong way.. I know you made them from scratch, but please for the sake of integrity either talk to sascha first to get permission or come up with your own ideas before releasing. I am sure you can do great things for this community.

1) Did you recreate every graphic yourself, possibly change some things, did you rename the project? If so, go right ahead!
2) I made that matrix image, crni took it not knowing that it was mine. he didn't recreate the graphic himself (that wouldn't be a problem). the problem was that I knew my graphic, and he took it (again, not knowingly that it was mine). that problem is solved anyways.
I created these, regardless of what they LOOK LIKE TO YOU.

Just chill out. Art is about interpretation. You look at something, and put what you see down and draw it. Hm...sounds like what I did. I looked at Sascha's graphics, and interpreted them to the best of my ability and changed them to my liking.
I'm in a drawing class now, and I am drawing part of our school. I am drawing what I see, and drawing little aspects that aren't really there, but could be. As an artist, I can manipulate and change things in my drawing because it is my work. Let Sascha be an artist. Let me be an artist. Don't tell me what I can and cannot do with my art. It's my art. Not yours.

because i plan on releasing them. if you want a war about these icons, visit neowin, i proved i made the icons from scratch, and i proved that it is MY WORK, MY ART, and i will do as i please with it.
oh, and im so sorry if it looks like minium. my intention was for it to be different. i cant control how you look at it. i can only control how i look at it. sure it has aspects from minium, but it's mine, and if you dont like it, then say you dont like it and leave.

seriously guys, there is always going to be opinion from different sides. if you don't like them, no one is forcing you to use it. obviously, both sides have their reasoning and whatnot, that's why there's not going to be an agreement. get over it.

And there is a big diferent if you port mac to windows or what ever. All people know thats the original apple ressources. But if you stole the idea from a privat person so nobody knows who is the right autor. You cant stole sashas idea and release them befor he release his icons.

Lou, I love this set and don't think its a rip at all. However, if you want it to be OS X like and stop the complaining, why not just re-angle the folder icon and remove that indent at the bottom of it, if you can understand what I mean...

I havent quickly put that aside, I just dont want to see people jumping on Lou. Just because we protect personal artists doesnt mean we have to beat up on people violating copyright. For example, in this case, we can be nice to Lou, admit that Lou is violating copyright intentionally or unintentionally (as I started my previous post) and close the thread, thus protecting Sasha and stopping people beating up on Lou.
Im just trying to get you guys to think. Sure Lou is violating copyright, but so are alot of you according to the terms of fair use and deriviative works. For example, pe8ers avatar does not fall under private or fair use exceptions of copyright. Thats a copyright violation, and I could point out a million more.
Instead, lets stop beating up on each other and just PM so someone can close the thread.
