Samurize Weather Script ?

You have to read the readme, and change the values to your town's code within the vbs script. Hamilton was in mine because it's the closest major city to me, and tended to have less downtime than my own town's data.

I had the same problem. Changed everything according to the readme that came with it, but it kept saying Hamilton.

But I found the problem. Here is how to solve this particular problem:

First: Make sure you did everything it says in the Readme file. (mine was located in the Samurize main folder)

Now,

1. Go here http://weather.interceptvector.com/list.php and find your city.( you should have done this already!)

2. click on you city. (it should take you to a xml page of your city)

Important! 3. SAVE THIS PAGE AS weather.cache.xml. (which should already be located in your scripts folder in Samurize) Overwrite it with your version.

4. Restart or reload Samurize (client.exe)

Voila!

ah yes, you can delete the weather.cache.xml Or it will just update itself after the first hour

I dont have the problem of the icons not matching. But the weather here has been either clear or mostly cloudy ever since I started using the script. HEHE

I did however end up switching back to the tried and true Extended Weather script. I found that if I do the switch users (WINKEY+L) without logging out completely of my machine and the scheduled event of updating the XML file ran it would load multiple instances of Client.exe (the samurize client) it seems that when you are logged out that way that the script does not properly find and kill the already running instance of Client.exe

This may not be a problem for most people but I share my computer with my wife and when I am downloading large files and such I like to just do a quick user switch out so she can get on and do her thing while my tasks are still running. If anyone has a fix or suggestion to help me go back to the pretty icons I would love to do so. But for the time being I am back to the ugly Weather.ttf images.

I deleted the xml and ran the script - but still, all I have is a cloud - no sun or moon. The city, temp, and condition is correct though..............

Tomorrow is "not yet executed" - so I go to edit and there is nothing chosen for "select function" I don't see any function to choose for extended weather.

Did you try changing the string "const USE_CELSIUS= False" in any of the scripts?

Its not my weather script. I got it from Samurize web site. But you can change to celcius...near the top of the RefreshWeatherPlus.vbs file you should change "const USE_CELSIUS= False" to "const USE_CELSIUS= True"

I added just one day's forcast in advance so my desktop wasnt so cluttered.

If anyone wants the new 'skin' I can post it But until the site's fixed it's not of much use.

Thanks for making the script's cicada I love this skin I wish samurize would let the program do the work instead of scheduler though.

hi,cicada.I just want to ask you some question about your script.

1.where do I select the celcius symbol instead of fahrenheit ? (i still not get the right way)

Binary, no chance for now. I've tried to kill Client.exe from main script, but results were several small to middle disasters ;-) Other people tried to do that also, but they had the same result. So, it is not only me.

1. RefreshWeatherPlus.vbs - row 15 change it from True to False, WeatherPlus.vbs - row 12 do the same. Yes, you have to do that in both places. First is so script can download proper values, and second is for proper drawing of F or C in Samurize.

2. There is a bug in initial 0.50 release related to weather images. Check readme file in 0.53 and tell me if your problem is gone after upgrade.

Binary thanks for the weather tweak. How often does this look for changes such as rising or falling temps, so far it has stayed at a constant temp all day? I set false to celsuis and the temps are right but I still get a C showing next to Todays temp but not for tomorrows temps?

Make sure you edit both script files to show false, that should fix the celsius problem, :cough: metric is better :cough:

the weather checks as often as you want it to all you have to do is set up the scheduled task for as often as you like, I have mine set for every 6 hours and it works like a charm.

I do have both scripts set to false. The temps are correct they are in fahrenheit but there is still a C next to todays temp when it should be F. I would love to have it update on the 1/2 hour but I am unsure of how to schedule these tasks could you go into it a bit more?

I should also say that I have tried to use task scheduler with no luck. I used the (new) task wizard and for the program I selected the Refresh Weather Script as the task to perform and it does not work. I also can't find where you can schedule the tasks at anything more minute than a day. So I selected when idle. Thanks in advance for any help!
