As someone said before, compared to the cost of the building, they could easily afford the domain name anyway.

hehe, thats compared to your money, i was a little suprised too when i went there from living in america and traded in my dollars, then realized that chips cost the equivelent of .25$. That made my day. food usually costs less but technology costs just as much / more...it sucks...

I haven't read through the whole thread, so I apologize if this has been brought up already.
If the company copyrighted the name before the jerk, than the jerk can be taken to court for bullying the company.
What he is doing is perfectly legal, however, he can be sued for rights to the domain name. Time ago it was any idiot could register a name and wait for a company to come along and want to buy the name, which is fine. But this guy asking for usage per month is illegal, it is a form of racketeering.
I would suggest that the company send him a letter asking for a legitimate purchase price for the site, to buy it outright. If the company makes mention that this will become a legal matter if the person doesn't comply, mark my words this guy will fold.
It is quite clear that this guy registered the name with hopes of raping the company and a case like this will fall in favor of the company.
