Zlote Tarasy

Hi guys

Here in Warsaw, Poland where I live there is a huge new building being built

right in the middle of town. A friend of mine and my dads is deeply involved

in the whole project and among others she is making their website. You can

check it out here :

By the way, they named the whole project zlote tarasy. Which, literaly, in

Polish means "Golden Balconys". Here are some pictures of the building :

Anyway, the big problem is that they want their site URL to be

www.zlotetarasy.com. However, Some smart ass knowing that this project

was in the making decided to copyright the domain a year before time

and now he want 2500 EUROS a month just for using it ! For that you can

rent 100 square meters in tha building. Look what the guy did:

Go to the url that he copyrighted : www.zlotetarasy.com

He used the same color scheme, and the same font ! :rant: >.<

It looks like the whole afair is gonna end up in court.

What do you guys think ?

Just change the name! then he will have paid for the site for nothing.

TBH any big, public project should register domain names the second the name is decided. If they took a year before bothering, then the marketing department needs new staff.

Yes but he knew that that was gonna be the name of the projecect

and he knew that they might wanna use that domain. A huge enterprise

like that cant let themselfes be manipulated by soem little jerk like

that who wants 2500 euros a month for the damn domain !

or.. its poland, the guys running that project will win any case against a smaller outfit ($ talks) and there's always the russian mafia option.

Well no-one involved seems that up to speed on the internet. They just need to contact whoever is the .com registrar and go through the dispute resolution service ( I'm assuming they have one) I know of people who have done this for .uk domains and got good results.

Yeah, me too. What does 2500e mean to a big company that builds a thing like that? If they're stupid enough not to register the domain in advance, let them suffer.

As i said, that amount of money is nothing for them. It's just about people's principles.

just because u don't have money to spare doesn't mean that another company doesn't have a budget. Everyone who said who cares think this over, 3500$ per month, for every month, lets say as long as the company exists or until the person dies. Hmmm...that would amount to a couple million dollars in the future...and what if he starts demanding more?

ifido, take him to court or something, and if that doesn't work just change the name of the project.

I say good on him I've always wanted to do something like that lol. Surely if you wanted to buy it off him, you'd pay a one time fee, and then own the domain, but why not just use a slightly different name?

Excactly! This way the guy would have paid for the domain and sufer because his site has no content what so ever...what a cruel ***** ! To all those that said they wanted to do this, how could you?? That is wrong!

EDIT: or use www.thezlotetarasay.com OR www.zlotetarasayproject.com or something else, no need to change the name...just change the url.
