Too Those Of You With Feature/app Req

Yes Duckie, I agree that bug reports on app 1.0 should be priority.

I'm not a programmer myself ... just a simple skinner, but if I did program I know I would want my app to be as perfect as possible on as many machines/configs as possible before adding more into the works. New features go into 1.1 or 2.0 etc.

It IS how the bigwigs do things, that's for sure, BUT their apps cost money, and sometimes a heck of a lot at that. I think the general mentality is such that when something is free and IS updated on a regular basis, that folks tend to think it easier to request away .... especially when a certain app/util works perfectly on their system.

I must say that I too am an older bird such as yourself, but I DO at times get overly excited when certain things come out that I have been patiently waiting for. I DO at times request things be 'considered' when I reply to threads. But I certainly don't expect them to be included. I totally respect what programmer's do, mainly because I simply do not have the mental fortitude to do it myself. Nor do I have the money to buy programming languages or compilers or libraries or whatever else is needed to program.

I think it's ok to ask for features ... to a certain extent. It would be nice if everyone read [very carefully] an entire thread before posting though. I'm SURE the developer's do ... that's why when I request something, I leave it be. I also request because the developer may not have thought of what I did. I guess I assume that if he/she wants to add that into the next version that they have some handy txt file to copy/paste the request into ;-) But again, if the thing I want isn't included, I respect that as well because I do realize that if I wanted to do it myself it just takes time and money to do so ... so at that point I accept the program/util for what it is and go on with my life.

In this society [in general] it IS a shame that the younger folks want things fast, and with as little effort as possible. I have a relative that simply refuses to READ installer notes, txt files included with skins/apps/etc ... then asks me how something can be done. I tell them, READ the txt file, it's in there ... they say, "I don't want to, just tell me". And it's the same with the games they play, not reading the manuals to find out what can or cannot be done in games for moves or whatever. Strangest thing though, they WILL read through a 20 page website to find out all the cheats for a game ;-)

And what's so hard about using the appropriate request sub forum to post requests?. Other than some apps dont have such a forum, but the mods could easily add more...

This way Dev's dont even have to look at the requests if they dont want to, but they are still there for people to see and comment on.

Silencing requests/comments will never help an app mature. Plus I dont see that many Dev's complaining about the issue anyways.

Let's not turn Aqua-Soft into old world germany :staffs here:, warning/baning/locking people/threads for petty reasons.

Yeah, as I said, its not that we dont want requests, its just that theyre so bloody unorganised its a pain to look through a thread of 20 pages for them.

the main issue here is that people are not bothereing to read the whole threads resulting in repeated requests.....if this gets slapped then your'r done with this bloody problem

I myself hardly ever make feature requests. But when I do make suggestions or a request it's annoying to have people tell me not to. I knowthe whole net effect of having a few people requesting things can be overwhelming. This is one reason why some applications makers choose to charge for their applications. However that being said it's my opinion that the only person you can change is yourself. A person can not make a request, have a thread made for requests, or sit around and complain about people making requests.

If you are a developer and you feel that you can't take requests you should say so in your release announcement rather than just having people assume that you can't and jump down anyone's throat when they say anything that might look like a request.

I find that some developers are pretty diplomatic when it comes to suggestions\requests\etc. such as AndreasV.

Now, a little off topic here but on the subject of being in the minority. I think it's gone too long that people have been treated unfairly because they are in the minority. Take a look at how things have happened when it comes to race for example and being a minority there. There's nothing wrong with being in your own niche as long as you are not hurting others.

dunno if this had been said, but sometimes the bug reports piss me off, its a couple pages of the same bug repeated over and over because the person posting didn't feel like reading the previous posts. I am an example, and for that reason, I don't post bug reports / bugs.
