Who are you?

My name is Chris. I'm 19 and I live in central Illinois.

I'm a Multimedia student at Bradley University in Peoria.

I'm self teaching myself php, sql, cgi and am taking classes in C++.

I am designing a new website devoted to everything to make Windows look like OS X and am starting to create a WindowBlinds theme based on Iceman's jaguar visual style. Hopefully I will get either an iBook or Powerbook this coming summer depending on how much money I make.

I'd just like to say thanks to everyone in this community for the support and help to make all of our computers look like OSX. Also, thanks to Moby, Mr. Yamaguchi (sp?), and Jeff for their excellent dock programming skills. Without them I don't think a lot of us would be here as much. Hopefully next year should bring some amazing software to us and could be the year of the docks.

Yeah, I guess Ill hop on this here bandwagon. I'm John, 14, and believe it or not I actually make money at my asge designing web pages. I also like to do mild technical support for people here and there. I can learn pretty much anything on the computer if I will just take the time to learn it(Im Lazy).

The big passtime in my life is Skateboarding. Although I live in Michigan which isnt really known as the "skating capitol of the world" I still get by. Skateboarding is really fun to me and my friends. I attend Napoleon High School and also play the Bass Guitar. If you want more Info about me (or mostly skating) go to my website at: nonposers.tripod.com

I'm really big on technology on like wheres its going. And I especially like the way a Mac looks, just not its price tag. This site has been really cool for the windows community and I hope it stays around. If Apple just wasent so stubborn and make OS X run on an X86 Architecture then we wouldnt have a problem. Hmm, I seem to have forgotten the name of a company that made all of its money though Operating Systems in the first place, i believe it started with an "M". I just hope apple pulls out of its Hardware mess before it becomes a problem. If you really think about it, Unless Motorola plans on a BIG update to its G Serries of processor, Apple should consider a switch to an intel format. It already half-way there, apple shares the exact same RAM, Video, and Hard Drives as the PC, why cant they just switch over their processor and be done with it? Oh well, not my problem I supposed. I just figured I could spark some curiosity.

My name is Thomas, I'm 24... I live in Mew Nexico. I like, listening to music, movies, anime-manga.. doing art, mostly.. I'm not really much of an outdoors person. For exercise I mostly have taken Martial Arts but can't stand team sports or things like that.

I have been into computers\technical stuff for most of my life. Ever since I played my dad's friends Atari 2600 I have wanted to play video games. I always played the apple II's in school then..

I wanted to get a video game system but my parents went and got me a computer instead. A 8088 computer..

Then in late '97 I got a copy of Boot magazine which showed alternative OS' and that got me into customizing. I wanted to make my computer look as good as some of the *nix window managers without having to repartition and install it.

These past few years I have been doing mostly *nix skins.. but this year I switched, to mac skins. Well, OSX to be more precise.. which is *nix like. I never really liked OS9 except for kaleidoscope.

I'm applying my experience learned doing *nix skins to OSX skins now. Though I sorta prefer the third party skins coming out for it more than Aqua. I mostly like the layout of OSX.

*edit* I also wanted to add that for me most of the fun of customizing comes out of making system look like something it's not so for me getting the real thing robs me the fun. I kinda hate when people ask why don't you just get the real thing cause that's not the point for me. I don't emulate as a step to getting the real thing.

I've built my two PCs i have. someday i'd like to get an iBook or a powerbook. i have always liked macs.. and every time i get the chance to use OSX i try.. which isn't very often. i listen to mostly rock and rap. objectdock is by far the best PC dock so far. oh, and happy thanksgiving to all the geeks in the US.

Forsaken?

Is this thread alive again? Because I joined 1 day after it, so I never got a chance to post.

Well, here goes:

Hi, my name is Ben, and Im an alcoholic (someone had to do it). 16, just about 17 and I live in New Jersey.

I actually came to this site looking for a way to run OSX on my PC, then I realized that a bunch of freeks were trying to mod Windows to look like a mac, even though they already owned macs, so I joined in.

Actually, the real reason I joined was so I could have the Genie Effect on my PC, and I STILL don't have that, after a whole year.

C'mon Moby, give us the Genie effect and we'll give you a cookie.

EDIT:\\ Are we doing photos too? Because I finally got a photo (school ID). Unfortunatly, my scanner isn't working. Im working on that though.

and if you're wondering about the signature, i'm writing a novel but a sentence or paragraph at a time, and not necessarily in order. so you'll see it changing every week or so. and if anyone wants to know the penguin joke, i'd be happy to share it.

I'm Mark, I'm 20 years old and I live on the beach in Mississippi (not a redneck  ).

I started playing with MSDOS when I was 6 years old and got my first Packard Hell when I was 12. Started lurking around the aqua-soft community a year ago and have been loving my computer (not a packard bell) ever since. :rule:

I'm majoring in computer science so who knows maybe I'll gain enough knowledge to write the next aqua app.

My name is Alex Lamon.

Im 15, and I write some apps for this very here site. I live in england, in the city of Brighton (23 days without a pointless fight). Umm what else. I used to skateboard and I still snowboard when I go up to Canada (British Columbia).

Actually I used to live in Canada when I was 7, lived in Toronto for three years then came back here. I kinda prefer it here, I don't freeze my nuts off half as much.

For AS level subjects, Im probably gonna do, Geography, Pyschology, ICT, and I aint decided on the fourth.

I used to web design alot, and my curiosity brought me here while looking for visual styles.

Oh yeah and I play Electric Guitar (an Epiphone Les Paul Custom) its my baby.

ciao

#69007

My name is Denis.

I'm a latvian living in poland going to an american school. diverse huh?

I used to be one of those 'pc-only' people you sometimes see on the street and just wanna shoot. Then i thought about it a little and decided to judge computers on quality and performance, and not by what name they had on the tower. The first step in my conversion was buying an ipod(15 gb), which i love, and which is also driving me to buy an ibook (unix with a pretty interface!). I'm 17, snowboard, play guitar (fender american double fat strat), play bass(fender american jazz bass), and i guess you could say i'm a bit of a geek. I learned c++ when i was 14, just because i thought it looked interesting. I can see the L sign above your foreheads right now...

#69009

My name, surprisingly enough is Steven.

I'm 21, from south-east England (about an hour and a half from Brighton, alilm ;) ), and am studying in my final year for a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Computer Science & Engineering at the Uni of Surrey. I started programming aged 7, and since then I've just kept going and going, trying to learn everything I can...

I've not contributed much, thus far, but I'm hoping to do some more stuff in the future (maybe a new version of my WMP skin, a follow up skin, too, and some things I'm going to keep secret ;)).

My name is Andrew. I was born in Cali, Rancho Cucamonga to be accurate (it's in the middle of a wild fire right now  ). My family moved to Missouri because my Dad got transferred whien I was 8. Now I'm 18.

My intrest include computers (graphic design, web design, vb and just knowing them). I tend to research anything that intrest me, from different cultures to why does the shower curtain really stick to the tub lining when taking a shower (the cooler air outside of the shower reacts with the hotter air from the water creating mini sideways "tornados" between the tub and curtain and that creates a vacuum). I'm, not very athletc, but I could be if I was forced to. I know how to play the piano, guitar (bass guitar), clarinet, saxophone, little trumpet and violin. As I also listen to alot of genres of music, anything except country >.<. Here are a couple of my favs:

Music Groups: SoaD, The Who, Ozzy Osbourne (Black Sabbath), Santana (pre-sellout days), Marlyn Manson, George Michaels, Michael Jackson, Prince, David Bowie and Evanescence.

Songs: N.I.B. (Black Sabbath), Cobwebs and Strange (The Who), A.T.W.A. (SoaD), Haunted (Evanescence), Undisputed (Prince) and Beatiful People (MM).

Movies: Moulin Rouge, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I & II (I is better), Phone Booth, LotR Trilogy and Nightmare Before Christmas.

As you can see I'm not biased to anything, I'm very open minded.

I don't have a Mac, too expensive, and I'm inbetween jobs, other one sucked so bad that I quit on the spot, and going to college to do core classes, I don't know what I want to do in life. Well, that's my story.

#69085

Black sabbath rules... i should have included that in your respect comment... ;)

Sad to realize youre not actually a CIA robot... :6

Hi everyone,

My name is Liron (pronounced Leerown), I'm a 21 year old (May 82) American/Israeli girl, Minnesota native, living in a suburb of Tel Aviv.

I finished my compulsory military service to the Israeli army not too long ago, and I'm currently doing freelance webdesign and graphic design in order to save up money to move back to Minnesota and go to college and study comic book art and graphic design.

I'm a computer geek-oid

I'm also a comic book geek-oid, and I love drawing comic book characters.

I'm very interested in Body Art, and am currently co-moderating the Israeli online Walla.co.il Body Piercing forum.

I have a personal website/blog which I seldom update, and which I really should.

- Did you read my "Personal Title" thingie and intrest before I just changed, They were lyircs from The Wizard off the Black Sabbath album. I also love that song, and it fit my name.

- Nah, but I heard that they are trying to change one of my cousins into a robot buy reading his mind and progamming a computer. He will have all the functionality of a can opener, sadly a manual can opener.
