There are 2 reg files in the Zip file posted below..
"set-finderbar.reg" will enable the finderbar in place of the folders tree view.
"restore-tree.reg" will set the treeview back to the way it was before.
but I'm very dumb and don't know how to edit the registry and where is the registry at all.. can someone help me??
double-click on the register files ? but read all the thread, there may be problems depending on your windows version
Is anyone else noticing that explorer.exe doubles its memory usage once Finderbar starts?
[Edit] After fiddling around with the shortcuts list my explorer.exe mem usage shot up to 82 megs. Not cool.

I know this isn't officially released but the mod that makes finder bar default doesn't really work if you have the mod for google desktop search installed that makes it the default search engine for windows. Not sure if this is a big deal but I must use desktop search in order to do anything because my search files dissapeared. Just wondering if this has something to do with how these two mods work
[Edit: The only thing is now my folders bar is replaced by google desktop search and whenever I open exlorer the bar is just gray
Finder bar was on TV!!! So cool I am watchin Attack of the Show right now and they just recomended it to give you the finder effect of OS X for explorer.

Now, what if someone could figure out how to replace the finderbar view with the folders tree view in the registry, we could have finderbar start by default but still be able to use the tree view. Does this make sense?

Dang this is a teaser...so far I've been able to have the default (just tree view), regular finderbar (treeview and finderbar), finderbar as default (finderbar and finderbar) and the biggest teaser of all treeview, treeview (treeview and treeview) but when i set finderbar as default it changes both views to finderbar.
I have been able to do away with some useless registry keys and both views work just fine. I'll keep trying.
If anybody knows how or has suggestions, I'd like thier help.

Heh, anybody that can figure out how to have the finder bar as default, but still get access to the tree view will be my personal hero .
im just wondering if anybody knows if theres any way to hack out the title of the finderbar/folders view or any other bar on the left side of the explorer window in general. The only thing holding me back from using this is that over the awesome finder bar is a small strip of blue that says "Finderbar" and has an X to close it. if it was just there with no title id be sold for good.
i wonder if someone can hack this to get rid of the X Button and the top label bar to make it seem more maccish...maybe have it as a hack of the normal sidebar that is always with explorer windows (unless you uncheck the option for it in the folder options
Not sure about the "Finder Bar" label itself, but TomLapp did give a small explaination of removing the "X" in post #70 if you did miss it in this thread.
I'm having problems adding Gmail Drive to Finderbar.. does anyone have the path for gmail drive so i can just enter it manually? The shortcut editor crashes right when Gmail drive logs in, after i select that drive to be added to Finderbar..

I don't think you can add Gmail Drive. It's less of a drive and more of a shortcut.
This registry trick dosn't working for me : ( ( and not only for me )

He released 2 different versions, the first registry trick if sofr the first version. The second trick is for the second version, released in this thread.

I'm having major problems here. I wanted to get Finder Bar set as the default so when I open Explorer Finder Bar appears instead of the File Tree. I downloaded the reg edit files, both the original posts and then a later zip file, and now when I click on a folder in the main window a separte Windows Search window appears. So, now, in order to open a folder, I have to right click to "open" instead of just left-clicking it. Help. Can anyone offer suggestions or provide the original reg values so that I can get it back to normal? Thanks.

Okay, I've got it now so that a new search window does not come up. But, now, when Finder Bar is running, and I click on a folder, it automatically opens in a new window, one that has the file tree showing at the left. Any suggestions would be appreaciated. (And this happens even though I have selected the Tools option for opeing in same window.) Thx.

Cry..., I cant install Finder. Im using Windows SP2 and I think it inclued .Net. The message say I must install .Net first. So, I installed .Net beta 2 but I've got the same message. Please help me out!!!
