Aqua-Soft Forumsok here is my sit. I have just enough money for a powerbook 15"[using student discount]. Should i buy the 15" or should i buy a 12 inch and peripherals. plz i need help, its importante.

Debate.... On Powerbooks
I'd go with the 15" seeing that there are some issues with the 12" displays. (Brightness and what not). Although, if you are willing to sacrifice picture quality for peripherals, the 12" is probably the best bang for the buck. Make sure that if you get a 12", it's a revision c and has a 1.33ghz processor 
Edit: the 15" is widescreen
Well, with the 15" you are getting a Radeon 9700 in there if you care about games of course. Plus the screen resolution on the 15" is higher. Other than that I think they are pretty much the same thing.

15". It's what I'm running. Yes you sacrifice a little portability, but it's not heavy, just wide. Also the screen is top notch. Ultimately though, you know what you need (not want - unless you have excess cash weighing you down) and you should make the decision yourself.

I would highly suggest the 12 inch. I have a 15 inch laptop, and I have used others' 12 inch macs. I far prefer the smaller laptop. It is completely worth it to lose 3 inches of screenspace to get the portability of the 12 in. I would also suggest a lot more than 512 mb of ram. i would max it out.
music = I would invest in a good pair of speakers anyways..
web surfing = I hate having to move the scrollbar just to see an image, the resolution of 1024by768 will give you that problem..the 15" Will give you more real estate to have more windows opened while having them at a reasonable size
chatting = 12" and 15" - If you chat multisakly*, 15" is best choice, if not, 12"
movie watching = You'll love the 15" widescreen for that, and with the bugs of the 12" screen, the 15" screen is worth it
Trust me, if you get the 12", you'll be wishing you would have gotten the 15"
Personally, I can't STAND small screens. I have an 18" monitor that I use (CRT) and it is almost too small (it isnt good enough to have 1600x1200 res., which I crave) I watch movies and do lots of graphic design w/ PS 8 like photomanip as well as scanning photos. I would recommend the bigger screen, by far. What is the use of a cramped workspace?

The BEST setup in the world with a laptop is to get a cinema display (or other large flatscreen monitor) and a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and have your laptop sitting under the desk, connected to the screen, keyboard and mouse. One of my dad's students has a set up w/ a 12" pbook just like that. He has the monitor connected to a KVM switch so he can go back and forth to his PC and his laptop by pressing a button!
imight be going to sessions.edu to learn graphic design and i was thinking of buying either an ibook 14" or the powerbook 12" both fro the same priece with student discount. Besides the screen size it their much of a diffrence between the 15" pb and the 12' ? will i need the pc card port that the 12" lacks ? the firewire 800 ? ect...
oh and also i have an sony 17"lcd wich i'll be using with the powerbook @ home....
yes i love big screens, i use a 19" crt flat screen. its beautiful. but i think im going to stick with the 15" and upgrade the mem. i will buy a mouse maybe i dunno, but thanks guys for your responses. hopefully i can go get it soon.

I would personally wait for the next PowerBook version, be it G4 or G5. It shouldn't be too long, now.

Good topic. I'm also considering the chance of buying a PowerBook. Does anyone here have a Mac Laptop and a PC desktop? Do you find yourself tired of the PC?
I think i'm going to buy the 15''.
Ps - I need to work on my english! 
If you're going to be doing anything other than, say, word processing you should get the 15". Your eyes and nerves will thank you.
definetely the 15! I was thinking of getting a PB 15" too for school. I probably won't be able to until next year

I have been doing research on the two for awhile now... I would have to say the 12" (I know, shoot me).
Nothing beats the portability (Just slip it into a sleeve and into the backpack), and with the spare money you would have used on the 15" one can pick up a decent monitor and run duals easily. Sure, photoshop feels a little cramped sometimes, but with all the features like expose and such it is a lot easier to get around. Thats just my thoughts on the issue.

Oh and the G5 pbook won't be out for awhile. WHen it does come out there will be issues (Obviously) so you would want to wait for Rev B or something. Go for the G4 book.

first to bunkka. get 15'. I would buy it too.
second I'm thinking to switch apple with PB 15' but have some cons. I've heard that battery runs only about 2 hours. it's problem to me 'cos I have to often work outdoor and I know that 2h it's not enough. I've been in apple store yesterday and saw PB15' and 12'. 15' is amazing. problem is that I've never had mac and afraid a little 'bout switching

I run an off the peg 15" 1.33 GHz with an extra 512MB Ram. Average battery life is ~2.5 hours. With heavy airport and iTunes usage ~2hours. With all power saving features and a dimmed screen, ~3hours.
