Best Darn App Ever Made

I found this app last night, and it has to be the coolest freakin thing :|

If you guys remember legos (not the **** out now the real classic ones), well there is an app that lets you build whatever you want basically with every piece ever made.

The all is called MLCad and is in the suite of apps called LDraw.

you can get the suite here aswell as a ****load of information if your into this stuff.

all in one installer

Sure I can go into detail on what exactly I'm hyping up about but a few screenshots shall do.

I gotta try this out!

what would be cool is if you can make something up in this app and then email it to a company who would actually build it for you

ha! that's cool... the worst thing about lego was that you had to take apart your prized new creation to make your next big idea. Plus now they seem to want 5$ a brick.

neat find.

#187145

wow, that's cool.

@gill, yeah, saw that too. it's awesome. any idea how to save it?

#187147

Wooow, thanks Timmie, downloading it right now! Can't wait to get back to my childhood  :woot:

#187156

I have this app :) Play with it in my free time. When I was

about 5 years old I got halve a ton of legos for my birthday.

Good ones :) Anyway, now I gave them to my little bro and

he has lots of fun with them. :)

Sweet dude!

Can I put something I have build in lego in the scanner, and then import it to Idraw? :woot:

#187232

Thanks Timan!

Im running into render issues with POV Ray...do you have a setting file for L3PAO or LPub I can borrow? Ive got a zombie robot Id like to render out at 1280x1024 on PoV with 3 lights hitting it. worked well with a spaceship I started on, but the zombieBot is causing problems.

ZombieBot ldr file

#187256

Hey dz, do you know how to rotate the lego's to an angle, like my shuttle I'd like to put it at an angle from a baseplate.

#187258

Im asuming youre using groups to keep your parts together: set you grid to medium or fine, select the shuttle as a group, rotate using the toolbar rotate buttons, OR right click and under enter pos + rot you can enter a numeric value, but damn if that isnt hard to do.

I hope thats what you need :)

BTW, that shuttle is SWEEEEEET.

Im working on a little space sled right now. :D

#187267

Well I'm able to rotate them basic ways, but I'd like to have the shuttle slanted at a 45º angle.

Also some reason now that when I try to render in that POV app I'm getting errors :(.

#187268

If you can select all, then remove the baseplate from the selection, you can group the entire shuttle and rotate it at a 45...

#187269

Is there something special I must put in to rotate things at an angle? (new to this whole cad stuff), when I put 45 into the angle box nothing happens :/
