ken i am pretty good with flash if u need ny help
[wip] Dashboard Wallpaper
Sweet lord, this is really something! ![]()
One thing though, I get this crappy cursor on the desktop, the oldschool white hand.
The cursor are fine when I point them at shortcuts, itunes etc on the desktop...
Does anyone know what .dll file I need to change?
Keep up the great work Ken! ![]()
EDIT:
I noticed that I need to have a shortcut or a file/folder on the desktop otherwise I get a blank wallpaper. Or have I've missed something? ![]()
ok good btw the itunes remote doesn't fully work. it sometimes freezes and the album art rarelyy works at all. btw as i asked before (sorry to repeat myself) where can ai find the wallpaper on the preview ones? (the web preview ones not the abstract wallpaper that comes with the pr1)

The itunes artwork accepts only jpegs... if the artwork inside your mp3 is png or bmp it will freeze the artwork widget. And the itunes widget is still a little tricky... moving to next song or refreshing the wallpaper (F5) usually solves the problem. Oh, and it doesn't accept other than english titles.
Many things I have to fix! ![]()
Do you want the yellow/orange wallpaper? Send me a mail and I will send it to you. It's in my HD for years... don't remember where I got it from.

Now the cursor is normal all over the desktop, and changes to a hand only when you're over a widget.
After a short investigation, I guess the ugly hand is the fault of Flash plugin for IE.
Looking really great Ken...I especially like the iTunes volume bezel in your latest preview...bloody great! Waits patiently...nillinu...don't bug...wait...or if you're so great at Flash...make another.
do u think u could give us a preview of wut u have done so far because what we hae seen is alot diff than ur progress and im sure it will be months till the release
Enjoying very much release 1! Great stuff...can't get the iTunes widget to work...but still...awesome job here Ken... :woot:

I haven't ever delved into flash but though this is probably far off, maybe you could change the default mouseover cursor by making a css file with either link or cursor attributes (or both) if this indeed is a web page on the desktop.
is this still in development or has it just laged from its origianl upbeat pace
Ken is currently on vacation and will return shortly after August 15th. Please leave your message after the short beep. ![]()
I'll be able to pop in from time to time, but I doubt if i'll work on any projects at all, other than swimming and tanning and dancing and flirting and drinking and ... (well, you got the idea!)
ok... i er... understand?
Originally posted by kmccormi@Jul 10 2004, 06:52 PMoh, and also ... i get the same problem rooskee does ... when i set dashboard.html as my desktop, i get nothing but the plain solid sage green color i have set as my default background color under display properties. even after refreshing, the green stays.

Hey, don't know if this was ever answered, so I found that you have to have at least one icon on your desktop, otherwise you get the default background color. The recycle bin perhaps? Is there a workaround to this?
I've noticed something like that in AveDesk - when you do a Show Desktop with regular desktop icons hidden, the screen briefly flashes whatever your background color is, then shows the wallpaper.. mebbe this is something like that?
is this only for macs? cause i don't have c:\system\appearence on my hd only c:\winnt\
I think the correct path is C:\WINDOWS\Web\Wallpaper
You have to create the folder exactly like that...
so ken when're you coming back? its the 16th already.
Have some patience, kid. Let him settle, don't push our beloved developers.
Hi all!
I'll be back in about 10 days. I'm really sorry for making you wait so long, but I really needed this (long) vacation
I guess by the time I come back, there will be at least 5 variations of Dashboard released by other developers. I'll drink to that! ![]()
Have a nice day!
Ken

Can someone help me with the address book, for some reason it does not show any entries on the desktop using this active wallpaper.
hmm can this work with mac? i saw someone in the posts that had a mac and he showed the dashboard wallpaper. if it can i'd love it ![]()
i'm not sure if it works with a mac but if you can set an html file as wallpaper it'll work fine (with the exception of itunes's controller which is only for the windows itunes)
