Os/x Customised Xp Cd
What are you ideas behind distributing this cd?
What are the 'standard' Aqua Emulation files? -Have you already decided on the files that are/have been included? -How will you know who has purchased xp or not?
Will this be based on an unattended windows install or not? -If it is, what directories will files be corresponded too? Lastly, where will this be hosted? (If it is) It will be a huge download no doubt...

i am thinking of replacing the apple logo with a mono-color aquified win logo... cause its wrong to make it look like a rival OS... The origonal files and ones with apple logos will be included on the cd.
i prefer to keep the win flags.. (but give the option the the apple)
i know that i'm running windows. and untill my PC runs apple software..
i'll keep the flag on my start button...

if you distribute something that has an Apple logo on it..

1. No, its a real hacked xp install, not an unattend script
2. it can be done as an u/g or full install from dos
3. It will be hosted primarily on #betas
4. I don't have any way to stop ppl from using it illegaly, but i prefer to think that u actually bought XP...
We have a pretty god idea of whats going on the cd, and even once finalised, there will be new revisions out with updated aqua apps and such.

I still think this is pointless. I mean, we are forgetting the fun in doing everything yourself. We've turned ourselves into a factory. We are just churning out these Aqua apps. What if I want to change back to the XP look or customize my System Files to something else, ill still have to hack them.
And you will have a problem if you put "apples" and "OS X" stuff anywhere. I wonder if the "i" in front of everything is copyrighted?
Hmm... well, a lot of ppl like it... the real reason is for me to learn more about how windows works... (i'm only 14 ). If everything with a lucida grande font and a blue aqua X in it will cause probs, iceman would have been told ages ago =P
Im just saying that if you started distributing a hacked Version of Windows, it might attract the attention of Apple and I dont want to see this whole community shut down, which can happen any time Apple wants. Im sure Jef wouldnt argue if Apple threatened to sue him, and we shouldnt expect him to. If you want to hack your own install CD, go ahead, better yet, tell people how to do it, then they can learn as well. I never knew how to hack my system Files, and I learned because of all this aqua stuff, and if someone creates a program that hacks it for you, I would have never learned, and I would be slightly more ignorant. Oh, and I know about Icemans System Files, but you still have to know how to install them.
we will put a full list of what we had done on the cd ... it will be primaraly an XBETAS hosted/run project, so i hope nothing happens to either site :S
I halfly agree. I would say a guide on editing normal files on xp and then putting them back on cd would be more worthwile. Sure you can distribute it, but after a while, it will be gone, where as the tutorial will stay for ages, and people will learn to make other versions of it too, like if one person likes smooth stripes or a minimalistic theme.
Also, can you please tell me where u found out about editing this? I would love to find out how to do it my self, i really hate doing everything after a format.
hehe... its just a bit of poking around with resource hacker or a hex editor .. and knowing some photoshop helps too Did any of u see the screenshots i put up yet?

I think your going to have stability issues. I mean, using all these programs and hacks is really going to put big holes in the OS (more than whats in it already). Making VB apps part of an OS in not a good idea.
So.. pls tell me that with this "windows x" it will install object dock, windows blinds, or mssytle theme that is aqua, and stuff, and the start bar will be on top when it first starts, and all the icon will be big when it first start, and stuff!

I think this thread is getting out of hand and since it has been posted twice it is becoming annoying to say the least. God gave you a brain use it. You don't need 600 views and over 50 posts to get suggestions on a name. Any reasonable name will do. The name is not that important, what the package offers and the simplicity of usage does. Oh noooo, my view & post generated the number 666 , I hope it doesn't mean anything?

Ok, yes it will install Object Dock, a MSStyles theme, big icons and everything before first run... hell, if i get time an OS X like OOBE...

No issues so far, and i've had it hacked like this for a few weeks
I have reached Milestone 1, which is the logo, the autorun, and the GUI of the installer, and most of the patched files. next is to tweek the installer to install and add new files...
Just a suggestion, that logo you made with the weird lookin 'W' and aquaish letters spelling out Windows X, can u possibly change that to being Apple Garamond? So it looks like its actually made by apple
BTW i cant wait to get my hands on this, i hate recustomizing my computer every format.

Take a look (german version) - over the submenus you can install ObjectDock, etc. with all Icons, etc. and much more...

I've stopped to post in this forum, but I'm still reading it daily. I'ts sad to me to post again just to say a negative.
First of all, I want to state that ANY new addition to the aqua-skinning community is welcome, indeed. The people who spends its hours just to share its creations, deserves my respect. But in this specific case, I want to ask to psychoge3k to remove of its project any stuff downloaded of my page, I repeat, please don't distribute the Windows XP customized CD using my stuff.
I want to share the things I've done (that's why I keep'em online), is just that I think it's not the right way. You should to post a tutorial, maybe some basic files, but not to offer the whole cd for download. I had several proposals from people in order to make a similar project several months ago, but I denied all of them.
Finally, please excuse me psychoge3k if I sound angry, I'm not, indeed, even when you never asked for my permission. Please go ahead with the project if you do use (with permission, of course) another set of system files, icons, etc. I hope you understand me guys, good luck and regards to all the people of this nice community.
