The Official Mac Os X Tiger Looks Hideous Thread

What Tiger needs is a utility to switch the interface between all the flavors of OS X. This will be useful for those who can't let go of their favorite adaptation.

That, Royalpain will undoubtedly come from the Mac theming community.

I think Panther is their best GUI yet. Tiger is far from ugly though.

you guys do realize that there will be one unifed linux based platform for both mac and pc in 2008 or 2010, and so apple has to move toward the windows look, and windows has to move toward the mac look. why do you think microsoft bought macintosh in the 90s? do the math

Is this a joke or some hidden ability to perceive the inexistant?

Nervetheless, Tiger is NOT an ugly OS. Not from what I can see. The changes are so slight in GUI, that saying it looks ugly (let alone 'hideous') is simply, not smart. One that "loves" Panther, cannot "hate" Tiger, because they're essentially the same; all that's changed is some shiny toolbars here and there and that's about it.

Anyway, that is only my opinion. No need to take it personally or anything.

microsoft did NOT buy macintosh

btw tiger is the best aqua yet in my opinion, i just can't handle the stripes on the panther bar so i use smooth stripes :

Missing something? ;)

if keith's right and that's what you meant to say, i suspect the reason they bought those G5's was for testing / coding VPC, Office 2004, etc etc, not to steal their GUI.

My reaction: Ahahahahahaha! Ahahaha.. Ahaha! Ahahahahahahahahahaha! Ahaha.. Aha.. Ahahaha..!

Why in the hell would there be a "unified" platform, and how could it be Linux based? That's software. Mac OS will remain on the PPC platform indefinitely. Windows will remain on the platforms it's occupying, which is more varied.

Microsoft will not put Windows on the PPC platform (Read: Macs) because then it's working against against two OSes that dominate that platform; Mac OS X and Linux. In the same way Mac OS X won't ever be available for x86 PCs because Apple, as great as their products are, will not put themselves directly in Microsoft's firing line like that.

And Microsoft bought some shares not the Macintosh.

They had G5s back in the 90s Muff? ;)

Linux will never be a threat until someone developes the GUI that both Apple and Microsoft booster.

The average person doesn't want to load thier damn mouse driver through the console every time they startup the computer.

Take a look at SuSE 9.1 Professional released this year - the first version of SuSE to be released after Novell purchased SuSE AG.
