wow, those look f*cking awesome, omg 30 inch!!!

#183134

damn you windows, stinky GUI, My next comp is definitely going to be a Mac without a doubt. Elegant, stylish, sophisticated. WOW. Maybe Longhorn will come out before I collect Social Security.

Six hours in the SpyChat channel getting hyped up.

30 Minutes of excitement.

75 Minutes of mediocre disappointment.

Tiger, bar <4 things doesn't look worthy of the MS-bashing Banners that were up. And the displays seem.. Well they don't look as innovative as the previous generation.. I guess we'll learn to love them as much. But the 30" requirements, as well as the Core Image's are utterly ridiculous.

(For those that don't know; 30" Displays require a PowerMac G5 with a new £450 graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra), and Core Image only works on 'PowerBooks, Power Mac G5s and both the 17-inch and 20-inch iMac.')

Oh I only pray that Dashboard gets a refined interface by release - it's hideous.

Did anyone see the new CINEMA DISPLAYS???

#183138

i'm really sorry. But frankly i'm becoming QUITE tired of Mac OS being released so frickin often. I wish they stopped at panther, atleast for a while.

I'm still settling into panther, and i already have to upgrade? I really feel Apple is trying to get as much money as possible by releasing minor upgrades in their os, make it look a tab different, and that costs me what, another 100+ dollars?

They need to calm down and slow down cuz this is getting redicilous.

BTW if you take a look at the Tiger Video, the GUI is messed now. The menu bar looks like the "gloss theme" (I SWEAR, they spy on aqua-soft or something and then sell off those ideas as their own), while the rest of the gui is panther. (wtf?)

maybe i'm just a grinch, but honestly, every fricking 12 months a "new OS"?

Panther is perfect the way it is (maybe a couple glitches here and there but those aren't worth a brand new OS). What do you think? am i wrong?

1) Tiger isn't out until 1st half of 2005. That's no new point release for two years.

2) You bought Panther? Then you get Tiger, 10.5 and 10.6 free. End of story.

#183140

but i agree with ya.

#183142

oh and the new dashboard (longhorn feature - cough cough*) is so fricking ugly... it looks like cr*p i'm sorry... it's completely out of place in the beautiful mac os gui, that now is going to get destroyed by this Tiger cr*p..... oih veih.

IMO Longhorn is gonna kick the ass of any of these supposed new versions of Mac OS.

Lets face it, Tiger is nothing new, nearly everything already exists.

  • Dashboard - A (pretty) clone of Konfabulator

  • Lookup - A clone of an app ive seen before (i cant member the name, it was operated completely by the keyboard)

  • Safari RSS - This is nothing new really

Theres some alright looking new features, the iChat thing looks nice but once again not revolutionary, just pretty.

Perhaps the new Apple motto should be 'Think design, not innovation'

Seriously. The next person to say 'I'm sick of paying for an update every year' gets me beating their --ing head in with a brick.

Ummmm... I'm sick of not having to update my os x cuz I'm still on windows? >.:P

its official, ripping the apple gui is 100% legal now...

seeing as they've ripped copyrighted work.

Core Images - Nice.

Spotlight - Nice.

Metadata - Nice.

Automator - Nice.

iChat AV Video/Audio Conferencing - Nice.

But I do agree, I expected more - let's hope 10.5 is the Longhorn killer OS...

@Gill; I didn't mean you personally. ;)

did anyone see the qtime vr for the 30 " display with the g5 next to it....

Completely, Tiger is showing a big lack of innovation.

Plus...

You're crazy ;) The first half of 2005 is just under a year away.
