I have only recently visited these boards but know already Il be here for a while. Needless to say that I have loved the Aqua look for a long time.
This is just to say, if you have any apps you wanna see Il see If I can do em or not (Thats no impossibly hard projects or docks

now thats a really cool feature, but I don't think its possible in Windows.
..but seeing what Stardock has been able to do, it just might be possible..

Well, i have taken some time to go back and clean up some code, so that has delayed it a bit.
FYI, though, i think c# works very well for aqua apps

Ok Im willing to give this a go, Im quite good with GUI elements.
Do we need this for the command buttons such as, OK, CANCEL etc or what?

Exactly,.. every menu or dialog that opens in XP has a button that is automatically selected.
For example right click your desktop and go to properties. The auto selected button is "OK",...
In some windows it's cancel,... click reply in this thread and the button is "Submit modified post" etc,.. (the mouse also has an option to move the pointer to the default button in window dialogs,.. in Xp<-- perhaps this might be of use in determining what "denotes" the active button).
For an example of how it pulsates, we need to find you a rip off the real thing.
How you are going to do this, or even where you are going to start I have no idea, as this is pretty low level.
Perhaps you are going to simply add an Avi or .gif it to the selected skin,...
AND/OR
skiining interface (uxtheme.dll) that would be easier I suppose.
Whatever,.. may god be with you : ) as this was something often talked about back in the old days of Aqua skinning (2000/2001), but nobody figured it out.
It is simply the last thing left to have all bases covered in providing a TRUE Aqua look in XP.
You would become something of a legend.

That is a great start but it is not what we mean.
In your app the button does not throb, it goes blue ---->on mouse over.
This is exactly the intention,.. however in Aqua the button "throbs"
(fades into blue like you did--then fades back--- then blue again)
on the order of about 1 pulse per second ----->simply when left alone,.. i.e. when the mouse isn't over it. This is part of the reason people call Aqua a "living, dynamic OS".
What determines the button that has to throb in dialogs, is the fact that it must be the default button.
WHEN you do mouse over it it simply continues throbbing but the shade of blue becomes slightly darker.
Any ideas?
Hmm this would be very hard to integrate into the normal Windows GUI, I dont think any themeing software supports animated or interactive GIFs to be used as buttons.

Exactly,... this is why it hasn't been done in the past.
But theming software is one thing.
Many people on this board simply use XP's own theming engine (using a modified uxtheme.dll available everywhere, which "unlocks" XP theme engine to accept themes that we make.)
I believe it might even be simply modding the theming .exe to accept .avi or .anim gif.
The GUI will accept .avi. There was a thing i remember hearing a year ago. In an .ini file somewhere in XP, there is a line to enable .avi's in the "preview" window on the "common tasks" bar.
Normally only html and images are previewed on that bar, .avi's are not. So in the .ini file the line is "remmed" or "commented" out, saying "may cause problems". You simply remove the comment, and there you go, your .avi's start playing in the "common tasks" bar simply when you select them.
So XP does support .avi's natively in the OS.

Actually, the common tasks bar is something like "system integrated html"... I guess it can show anything as long there is an IE plugin for that, but Microsoft places restrictions so that no unexpected things happen.
iCal is a good idea for an app, but I think it's hard to make something from scratch that will be as good as MS Outlook.

wow, if windows DOES support avi's natively thats just AMAZING news. Why the hell doesnt someone just make an avi then?
Also, I think iCal would be great. Now that I have actually started using it, I can confidently say it is my FAVORITE X app, and I use it every single day.

EDIT: Have you thought about making a replacement for explorer/finder? Something similar to Jef's aqua-apps finder?

I have a *million zillion* mods to explorer that could be solved with a single app. It would prolly be more functional and hopefully look better at the same time.
It needs to be as quick as explorer. That is essential...
Just a thought...
