Heavy Metal what to consider trying out its predecessors as well:
AC/DC - the early albums - simple.
Vanilla Fudge - more psychedelic rock - slowmo bombast rock versions of
"Season Of The Witch" and "Ticket To Ride" - drifted.
Deep Purple - Get the Live in Japan '72 Album - gifted with craftsmenship.
Iron Butterfly - noteworthy even beyond "In A Gadda Da Vida" - stoned.
Led Zeppelin - 'nuff said.
The Stooges - Iggy Pops first Album, 1969. Attention to "I Wanna Be Your Dog"
"No Fun" and "1969". These three are timeless jewels.
The soundest heavy nonmetal stuff I've encountered is from the late eighties:
Fugazi - Check out the First and the Repeater albums, especially "Waiting Room"
and "Merchandise". These guys beat anything hands down.
Jello Biafra - Former frontman of the Dead Kennedys punk band had a very
noteworthy cover of Steppenwolfs "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place"
on his "Last Scream Of The Missing Neighbours" album.
Deeper back in time, there are some distorted guitars:
Thommy James & The Shondells - "Hanky Panky". If you can get the 45 RPM
Single, check its B-Side, named "Thunderbolt" it's about 1963!
All their later stuff is eyewatering candy stuffed brit pop.

Metal is stupid...all these super-serious guys/girls with long hair, staring at you from their cd covers like they would like to kill you and thinking 24hrs/day 'what part of body should i defile in my next song?' or 'how many pentagrams should i wear to be bad enough?' or ''is my drummer still a human or already a windmill?'

like I stated earlier, this thread is for metalheads, not the people who don't share OUR views. Of course not all people will agree with us but saying metal is stupid is very ignorant. Metal deals mostly with the "dark side" of life that most people sweep under the rug and forget. If a person feels anger towards life and it's challenges, sometimes metal music will be the closest thing they can relate to. It basically depends on the person of course, but to each their own and it you don't have a valid opinion on something please dont post at all.

Pe7er that kind of statement coming from you is just ridiculous. For your information metal musicians are some of the most talented musicians in the world (apart from jazz and classical of course). Especially these days where you see all these stupid poser metal bands like Limp Bizkit and Good Charlotte who can't play more than a few power chords and think they're metal. Real metal especially the darker forms of metal such as Thrash and Death are incredibly technical and some of the guitar solos or drum patterns are insanely difficult (for a really technical guitar solo check out Alice In Hell by Annihilator....that song consists of some really wrist-breaking stuff).
And if you don't agree that Jeff Waters's (guitarist from Annihilator) stuff isn't great, take a look at any song from the Kill 'Em All album, Reign In Blood album or for some really really fast guitar try Children of Bodom. I'd like to see any of these new-age poser bands like Korn and company play any of Alexi Laiho's songs and if they do I'll eat my hat.
You want proof that metal drummers are great? Check out the song Ye Entrancemperium by Emperor. Their drummer (I forget his name) shows off some crazy drumming in that song, while beating the crap out of the double-kick drum for almost the whole length of the song.
**** that. Look at this for instance. When Korn did a cover of Metallica, they played One and they played it alright for the most part until the last distorted solo where they stopped right before the solo begins. What a bunch of talentless losers. Point proved.

That said, I do like a lot of different types of music, and completely appreciate the talent and skill that goes into various metal acts...
One question, though... Would the metallers out there class Mindless Self Indulgence as metal? 
no, i would not, metal is driven from guitars and drums. Not synths and fasion statements.

That's exactly the way I am.
Dont get me wrong, i listen to alot of different genres of music from Hip-hop to Country. I am a true music lover. I have music playing about 12 hours a day, may it be at work or at home. Everyone is entitled to their own musical preferece, that's what makes us...us. To condem someone on their musical choice is just absurd to me. All sid is trying to say is that nu-metal is not worthy of the metal classification becuase of the lack in skil, which yes, most of them do not have. Nu-metal was created by record labels to mix "radio-friendly chours" with the metal image.
