Yawn. <_<

See, personally I don't mind some of the newer stuff... "staying true" to old metal in my opinion is just feusing to move on. Times do change... And what was popular then has been replaced my a more hip-hop influenced version... hence Limp Bizkit etc...

I listen to all kinds of music, from metallica to guns n roses to eric clapton and no doubt to god damned duran duran... Being a musician myself, i can appreciate all of it. My face album will probably forever be S&M (be that "nu-tallica" or not).. But to rule out all the stuff coming out at the moment because its not "proper" metal is just closed minded...

Just my opinion,

Cheers

Ive been spinnin Suffocations "Peirced From Within" in anticipation of their new release. I luv my fellow metal commrad sid but I quickly found out that if you dont keep an open mind about NEW metal youll get stuck in the past. Its very cool METAL is makin a strong comeback (it was never gone for us in the underground ;)). I like Slipknots releases thus far. The 1st one is extreamly catchy. The 2nd one went mor technical. and alot of the nu-metallers didnt get it. The guys in Slpiknot have been in the scene a while. Im expectin good things fron the 3rd one. Bands like As I Lay Dying, Chimaira, Killswitch Engage, Dimmu Borgir and a slue of others IMO are doin a damn fine job. Its just up to us old-schoolers to remind them where it came from.;) Man we need to find a good METAL fourm. MMA.

Iron Maiden - The # of the Beast

The Red Chord - Fused Together In Revolving Doors

Mortician - Hacked Up For Barbecue

#1 all time fav

Pantera - Far Beyond Driven

Must we judge people's taste in music? Just because you don't like Korn, Slipknot, etc, doesn't mean that their music isn't good. OBVIOUSLY music is a matter of opinion. There's no reason to be so fanatical about it. There's enough room in the world for all types of bands. -_-

I hate pretty much all metal, but I'm not going around insulting your taste in music.

Take a look at www.metalforums.com. I'm registered there as Anarchy ;)

EDIT: I stand by what I said....I hate poser metal. I'm open to new good metal bands. For example Killswitch Engage and Dimmu Borgir are just amazing in my opinion. I never said I'm not open to new bands. I just hate poser-metal (take Slipknot for example.....9 band members including 3 drummers and a DJ?? I also heard rumors of a 10th band member.....yeah right. Take Paul Bostaph for instance....he's waaaay better than all those 3 drummers combined together and they still suck) and rap-metal (Korn) which is just crap in my opinion

Is it just me or are these names INCREDIBLY stupid?

#161508

All band names are stupid.

The Eagles ia a riduculous name

So is the Foo Fighters

It's not about the name... it's about the music.

IMO globox is a stupid name.

This thread was directed towards METALHEADS, and the general opinion is that Korn'esque bands DO NOT classify as metal. It's nu-metal, Sid was just claiming that this is about METAL not NU-metal.

We are judged just about every waking second of our lives. Be it our clothes, hair, car, personality there is always someone out there judging us. You either agree with their opinion and be happy or disagree and just move on. Dragging on a debate on "why would anyone judge someone's taste in music" will just end up in one big circle.

I know that many of the "true" metal fans don't like Slipknot,

they have their reasons, ok, I'll respect that ...

I do like Slipknot, not my favourite band though, but they aren't bad at all.

But you can definitely NOT say that Slipknot's drummer (Joey Jordison) sucks as drummer.

Perhaps you never really watched him play or it's because he is just another Slipknot member... >.;)

The past months over I've been moving away from that to some more melodic things like the (old) Atreyu, Killswitch Engage, From Autumn To Ashes etc.

Sorry, just wanted to state my opinion about Joey as drummer ... I'll let this thread now for the TRUE metalheads.

Between The Buried And Me - Self-Titled and The Silent Circus (probably my favorite band, they are simply amazing)

The Red Chord - Fused Through Revolving Doors

Cave In (old) - All the old albums

Underoath (old)

Beyond The Sixth Seal

Prayer For Cleansing

Norma Jean

Comeback Kid (more hardcore punk with breakdowns)

Killswitch Engage

Every Time I Die

As I Lay Dying

@Ximmox: Agreed Joey is not a bad drummer at all....in fact he is quite good. I guess it's a case of 8 bad apples spoil the last one too...;)

@MetalMusicAddict: Death are THE Death band. They totally blow away most other gore-obsessed death bands these days. And dude you know the guys from Dying Fetus? That is sooo cool. I totally love their music.

Alright, just wanted to clear that up since i saw their Disasterpieces DVD yesterday.

The concert is so amazing, even if you don't like their music, the show is just great!

There's also an awesome drum solo, thats what made me react to your post. ;)

Corey isn't that bad too as singer as his old/new/sideproject band Stone Sour shows.

The others aren't the best musicians, at least they dont really show it ... and of course, the 2 percussionists and Sid as DJ aren't necessary ... just for shows sake i think. :P

Alright, if someone is interested in Metalcore, you should give

Bleeding Through

or

Heaven Shall Burn (awesome german band!)

a try. :naughty:

Let me go get my tight pants and my trucker hat. Hardcore kids are godawful trendy.

I can say this because... well i'm a hardcore kid. I got into the Christian Hardcore wave in around '97. Nothing was better than that. Now all the bands that come out are carbon copies of one another except they have a cooler logo or a tougher name. My all time fav "Metalcore" band name is Autumn's Bleeding Honor As the Wind Poisoned Integrity.

I want MY hardcore back and not this "sheepcore".
