Yeah, I thought so too. Then I decided I'd spring for WB 4.3 and I didn't want to wait until they release it over the web, so I downloaded it. Getting nice quick updates like 1.009 for Objectdock is a sidebenefit I wasn't aware of. I'm not objecting.
I've grown to appreciate the Stardock system. They give their users little kicks and benefits that add up (such as first access to new releases, betas, alphas, small updates).
Never realized people were so touchy around here.
My new outlook on life:
1. To each their own: If you don't believe that there is an update available or that it has some improved responivness/smoothness....then don't believe it.
2. If you don't like then don't use it: but don't sit around here and ***** about how you won't get it or want someone else to post it here because you don't wish to use SDC to get it.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say thank you to bang bang for letting us know this is out
hopefully they'll make it into an .exe soon...if not, ah well 
Oh right, I forgot to add, I agree with bangbang and AthleticTrainer's observations. I just updated Objectdock with the new build on two computers and it runs a lot smoother. I used to sometimes have issues with Objectdock getting slow and jerky after being up for a few days (since I rarely reboot or turn my computer off), but so far so good with the new build.

I just wanted to point out that while SDCentral downloads and applies, all it does is download all the files for the newer ObjectDock and overwrite the old ones.
If you take an updated version's main files and use them to overwrite an old version on another machine, I'm pretty sure you get the same effect. I've done it in fact, and it seems to work just fine.

dont know...how do you verify you are running the new dock? i mean, the two exe's are the same, 285 they say. (?)

From that view, you can't... I guess you can check if there's a filesize difference. But in the end, does it matter? If you believe it's a true update, then updating can't hurt.

Not at all....All I had to do was reboot and the dock came back quicker than at at other startup.

Mine did too...since I didn't have a "saved theme" I guess. Imagine my surprise upon opening the new version OD to see about 5 icons total using the default "LAST" theme. Pissed me off so much I closed it and fired up Yz Dock for the time being - until I get the ambition to rebuild all my shortcuts and docklets.
Ahh if you have a saved theme you will be fine, this is the same as any other Objectdock update. Make sure your theme is saved otherwise OD will write over it.

you should do what I did............system restore........and save your theme........ 
for whatever reason sdcentral isn't working. i just signed up and dling it. after it loaded up i put my email and pw in. and then i got a freaking stardock has incounted a problem and has to close :rant:
so i rebooted. and still got the same error :rant:
is there an alternate way to get this update.
edit. for whatever reason my objectbar was causing an issue. closed it and now it seems to be working

How do we save themes in ObjectDock?? I dont see a button to do it, or even to swap themes and such... wierd
Dock Settings > Themes > Save Theme
Strange, I have no such Tab O_o, and Im sure I have objectdock V 1.0
its not a tab, its in the in the file, theme, creat, help. under theme 
I had a saved theme, and it still reset it luckily it took no effort to get my theme back, but was still annoying, but its definitely much smoother now
