Longhorn has been in development for a LONG time because MS said that it would.
We all wish software was finished as soon as we see the juicy previews but the fact is these things take time. Now if MS kept pushing back dates ok but they only just the other week anounced a rough date of mid 2007. Longhorn is not simply another release of Windows its a complete overhaul that MS has stated wont be released until its finished no matter how long it takes.
correct me if Im wrong but didnt Apple also copyright Lynx, Cougar and Leopard aswell as Tiger and therefore does not conclude 10.4 will be named Tiger. Can I also ask whats stupid about the name 'Tiger' that isnt stupid about 'Panther' or 'Jaguar' I mean looking at thier copyrights its better than Leopard

My high school mascot was a Wildcat (whoopee. 
). And so was it in Middle School (Purple and Gold), and when I was in 3-5 grade (Blue and Gold, that's when I moved to Misery), before I was a Road Runner (Green and White). My schools always had a terrible mascot.
The other-thread-that-we-shall-not-discuss-about thread had soooooo many other good names than "Tiger". Tiger is really generic, even though its a cat, but still, its too generic.
um, in elementary skoo, mascot was bear, middle - fox, and we gots teh f0x0r in highskoo too.
the new theme will be completely brused!!! except of course the finder bar ( at the top )

Mmm. Free OS.
I hope it will be free, as I am not going to fork out AU$249 (approx) to upgrade to 10.4 when it comes out (as my iBook will be newish when 10.4 comes out).
Hehe, the few "BULLSH*T! I'll believe it when it comes from Apple!" posts were funny. (*Cough* Check the developers section with information on "Steve Jobs to preview Mac OS X Tiger" )
I doubt they'll change the "look" of Tiger from Panther, and if they do they'll only enhance it (animated widget roll-overs? Or other eye-candy). After all 10.0-10.2, that's three "major releases", had the same look (well near enough).
I can't wait for the WWDC Keynote, me and a mate are going to watch it feed live (come on, they're so going to do it live..!) and scream about Tiger. So excited..! 
And a note; Tiger, and another other major update, will be free to anyone who has "Proof of Purchase" coupons (I got a sheet with three on with my eMac (mwahaha, that means I get free OS X updates until 10.6!), do you get them with Panther retail box?). (Note: That isn't a rumour, read your coupon-sheet, it tells you that.)
