Hmm...what's the poll for  ?

Still, I also find the lack of news disturbing

#138930

i agree... it started with me testing what would happen if I stopped posting news.. well you see what happens... and i havent been posting much news or posting much in general cause i have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome because of the looong, very looong hours in front of the computer for sooo many years...

I meant there are 4 newsposters last time i checked....

#138931

Topic moved.

And again it comes to this - Seph is the only one that treats his duties with seriousness. Maybe we should demote some newsposters <_<

Well, do you really want every wall and icon to be posted. It's now a time that we have literally 5 every day. And then there is the problem of selection. Once you list one, you have to list them all, otherwise you're disrespecting the artist.

No but big things, like new finder clones and the new orbit release i think should be anounced, and yes the icons/walls should be anounced in one big listing i think.

very true wizard... however, we could use the approach that dt2 uses, i quite like it...

a newspost is started at the beginning of the day (by whoever gets theres first :P) and things are posted as they show up...

One problem however would be that one has only access to that post that one created... so no joint (not THAT joint lostspyder :P) newsposting is possble.. Tims views?

EDIT: yes, one big listing is what i propose, but not at the end of the day but rather as news happen... do you have ANY clue how tedious and hard it is to scavenge trough all the posts when i wake up to put up the releases? and not only that but, im sure i have missed a lot of releases when i have done the big lists.... not to mention that people have actually complained to me about it <_<

We need a newsposter TEAM that can spot what the rest miss...

That would be really nice.

Having all of the items in one newspost is really hard. To keep all the things straight and all the links straight. Then you have to go back and verify everything, make sure nothing is crossed. It takes a minimum of 10 minutes to create a post with all releases.

The old "Release" tags that we had back when would help. People nowadays always mix them "[poll][release]" or don't put them at all. When I started, yeah I read every single thread to see if anything was released, but now, it's not worth it to me.

#138984

it is proper scavenging... Lets see what Tim has to say about other fellow newsposters being able to modify other news... thats what we need for this sort of DT2 style news (which after going trough a million and one forums, i consider to be the most efficient as well as the fairest )

#138985

I'll turn editing of news posts by others on.

Also if you guys want to recommend any member of aquasoft who you think would do a good job posting news, please let us know, we are looking for some more staff.

#138986

well, brazil has been showing a very high alertness on new releases, however only for mac.. if he was to turn that feature on the windows side, he would be a good newsposter prospect i think...

Also Silencedge.... very community minded, very polite and and know his way around..

EDIT: Lets propose a standard for how the daily news are posted... note that, big releases of programs and such i reckon deserve more than a joint newspost...

#138987

So programs, tutorials, mods and Apple and A-S news get their own post while we have a daily icon and wallpaper post. Sound good?

#138988

sounds good to me ;)

to those that dont do this, fellow newsposters, news have to have at least a paragraph, do not assume that the person that is reading it know what a finder is, or what the genie effect is...

and i would suggest something like:

Wallpaper Releases:

(0) release 1 by bla bla bla

(0) release 2 by bla bla bla2

(1) Source: aqua-soft wallpaper releases forum

Icon Releases:

(0) release 1 by bla bla bla

(0) release 2 by bla bla bla2

(1) Source: aqua-soft icon releases forum

----------------------

(0) and (1) represent the little icons for view and source respectively, we need to use them instead of just plain links.

Also, lets include the daily news icon on the side... which reminds me.. whatever happened to those news icons?!

#138990

ok, newposters.. post your timezones.. im in dubai, GMT + 4

Lets see who can be the first to start the newspost

#139000

GMT -5 as of tomorrow.

#139010

Well how about this, let users with over like 250 posts (250 dont realy matter, numbers can come later) edit the news, this way we dont get some dumb newperson doing it. Most members over a cirtin amount of posts are community orented and what not too. So if a person sees a something newsworthy they post it, mabie if the newspost is bad for some reason, add a new meter of newspost baddness and increment that, and if it reaches like 10 ban them for a few days, of corse warn them that and why the post is bad. This discurages people that are bad newsposters to stop posting.

Can't let that happen we got too many immature people here that would ruin it for all of you.

0Can't let that happen we got too many immature people here that would ruin it for all of you.

thats why it would be kept in check by

A the number of post counts (we generaly ward away people who piss us off and are imature [sid may be an exception tho :P ] before they reach 250 posts i think) and

B temp banns and possibly perminate bans, any member with over 250 post counts i doubt will want to risk being banned. If a news post they made is imature, tell them and increase there badnewsposts count, once it reacehs a critan number (mabie 3) temp ban them for 1 day after mabie 6 temp ban for 6 days after 7 of em, and after 10 do a perminta ban or something.

- also a side effect of this is if someone just makes a new account, they wont get to post news for a loooong ass time, it takes a long time to build up post counts.

Buddy Christ should be a news poster.

It would be a good birthday present.
