Maybe it was my reshacking or maybe it's the Mozilla shell, but Apple.com thinks my "Safari" is real. Bwah ha ha ha haaaa!!!
One of these is my Safari Mod, the other is IE.

How dwhat did you do to make them recognize your phoenix as safari?
Yeah good job duckie
How'd ya do that!?
I don't know, but it's damned funny...
I'm figuring it has something to do with the fact that it's that same code under the hood.
Either that or reshacking the .exe and replacing everything that said Phoenix with Safari.
Are you sure that's not photoshopped or something?
Im running Pheonix with that skin and It doesnt say that for me
cool
I don't get it. What did you do?
Cool Duckie, your very hipster doofus. (
) JJ but great modding.

I assure you it's real. Just ask Taha to do a screeny and you can check it, pixel by pixel.
This is both a great achievment and very funny. Let's hope it does not get out of hand and Apple get upset about it.
it doesnt look good at all by the way.
regardless of the fact the stripes not aligned at all.
so whats the deal with it?
or is it just the JEW IN ME?
safari is not based on mozilla , aka gecko, code
safari is a rerelease of the khtml engine, developed by konqueror. Now apple build using that engine, and made it super fast.
What do you really mean Duckie ?
Whichever one is WinXP it looks very good, but what Kye said is true that Safari is based on khtml. Apple made a statement that Mozilla browser was out-of-control with the code and I assume that most spinoffs of Mozilla gets the same view from Apple.
I don't believe that Apple made much improvements to the browser of konqueror. In fact Apple chose it because it was fast already. It will slow down when it gets all the capabilities of IE,Netscape, or Mozilla., but since it is well coded it may remain slightly faster when it grows up to a full browser application.
heyya! THIS IS COOL!
I CHANGED ALL THE INSTANCES IN OPERA AND TURNED IT To say Safari!!
look!!!!!!!!!!!
btw duckie, you can't tell taha to check it pixel by pixel
since not all browsers render the page the same
Check this out!

From the Phoenix site:
"Phoenix is a redesign of the Mozilla browser component, similar to Galeon, K-Meleon and Chimera, but written using the XUL user interface language and designed to be cross-platform."
From the Safari Site:
" As with Mac OS X itself, Safari uses open source software at its core. For its Web page rendering engine, Safari draws on KHTML and KJS software from the KDE open source project. And of course, being a good open source citizen, Apple shares its enhancements with the open source community."
Oh dear...kill me now. I made a mistake. ::GASP!::
Anyway, I knew that, but I said Moz as an after thought. My main purpose for this thread is not the semantics of who/what/where, but instead HOW?
well, i can tell you a few ways on how to fake it
but you promise me not to tell anyone ok?
use a real safari browser and go to apple's site
I think you can find one at your local computer store ![]()
and download that site. i use this in linux
wget -r http://www.apple.com/
, and upload it into your webserver,
in the Documentroot, put in the favicon.ico used on apple.com
then, open your webbrowser, go to http://your.site.com/applefake/
then, you should see the nice apple page
then at the address bar, put in the nice little url that apple uses
aha! heres the hardest part
press "print screen" key on your desktop!!
heres another way.
use photoshop ![]()
[EDIT] SHHHH DON"T TELL AnYONE!!! THANKS! [/EDIT]
lol Someone isn't a believer.
Your logic is inventive, but not totally possible.
First, you assume the Demo Mac has an internet connection. Most I've seen do not. This negates both uploading AND browsing.
Second, you assume Safari would be installed on a demo machine. Usually (and I say this out of experience) stores don't choose to install beta software on a demo for fear of crashing.
Third, there may be the assumption that someone has the ability to write these files to some sort of disc, but Mac's don't have floppies and I'd think a store clerk would have an issue with someone burning discs on the demo floor.
Fourth, why would I even go to the trouble of this post if it weren't real?
"Fourth, why would I even go to the trouble of this post if it weren't real? "
thats easy to answer, and i'm not gona answer it
also, i can do that easily
and yes, my local futureshop has their demo systems hooked up to the net. and so does my local mac shop http//www.simply.ca/
second of all, OSX has built in terminal and an ssh client
i can just ssh into my server, wget -r apple.com
then replace the index file with the one rendered using safari.

think again, dewwwwwwwwwwwddd
