Wasnt there an app made to make these exact icons. You cannot put a copyright on a concept and to something that wasnt yours to being with.

What point are you making going personal. Did i say anything to degrade anyone. No, i was simply expressing an opinion that inorder to have artist rights you have to be the sole creater of the product. Putting clothing on a COPYRIGHTED MSN logo is not valid for a copyright. You can also prove me wrong... mail it to the place you get patents see what they say.
It's not personal it's the fact that you keep on going on about it. He asks someone to not use it on these forums. Fine there's nothing wrong with but you don't seem to agree you just want to keep going on that there's copyright issues. If olinboy did read and respected lou's and you walked right in this never would of happend it's all about respect and right now you are showing none.

i personally think that lou and magibi were being aragant bastards for not letting people touch em or use em elsewhere, i like my avatars, and dont want pople messing with em, but i'm not about to stop someone form doing it, its just an avatar, its suposed to be FUN :rant: damnit FUN!!!!

Well as I see it Lou and Magbi9 made the images and asked that no one to modify the images or use them in another forum than TRD in any way. They have spent a lot of time creating these images for people to use on the TRD forums. People have taken them and modified them without asking for permission from the owners that made them. Is it so hard to ask? I have created emoticons for use on forums, shoutbox, and guestbooks for "public use" only without modifing them in any shape or form without asking me first. I don't think that it is selfish that they ask people to use the said avatars in one forum only without modifing them. People just think that since it's on the net as a free download that they can do whatever they want with them without consulting the original owner of the images, which is just wrong. Yes, the MSN guy is copyrighted by Microsoft, but they allow people to modify him without permission for icon usage on Windows OS's. But if it was copyright infringement don't you think icon artist such as Foood would be getting sued by MS? He has made many icons that use original MS Windows shapes and forms from various programs. All that Lou and Magbi9 ask is that no one uses them on any forums outside of TRD forums and without modifing them. Yes I know they are just "avatars" but it doesn't matter since the owner of the images asked people to not do what they are doing with them. When I make anything for people to use on the net, such as desktops or icons, and they don't use them as I have stated they are allowed to in a simple readme file that states the license of the images; I as the owner have the right to have them taken down, have the owner of the site sued for copyright infringement, and have the right to contact the ISP the server is on and let them know that their customer is using copyrighted material in a way that is unlawful. I have had something like this happen with one set of GBA icons I made. I found them one day modified on a game store site in the UK. They used them without permission since I stated the usage of the icons were for the desktop OS only. They didn't respect me by taking them and using them illegally. Needless to say, the site and the images were taken down for that. They did what everyone else on here is doing with Lou and Magbi9's images. You guys just have to respect what the owners want the images to be used for, even if everyone thinks it is greedy and selfish of them. Next time, try asking them if it's ok to use, to modify or, to use somewhere else. Asking never hurt anyone. Now I will wait for the hate responses to this.
As stated on the TRD forums by Lou;
"We ask only a few things from you here, and that is NOT to change the name on the labels or modify them as these are PUBLIC avatars for use on TRD ONLY and please save them and upload them to your webspace or to TRD and NOT to use my webspace. One more offense and these will be taken down."
Microsoft doesnt care about foood icons becuase he isnt profiting off of them. Thats not to say that its not illegal because technically it is. Look how microsoft sued a boy because he used the name of Mikerosoft to sell his products. Also on all those sites they ALL claim in order to be protected the product must be original and slapping slother on a copyrighted logo is not original and nor is it legal. I have now emailed my friend, who works for microsoft, expect him to give an opinion here.
The point is somewhat mute either way. The "wrong" has been "righted" and the "justice" has been "served."

Well maybe Microsoft should care about Foood's icons cause he does profit from making them. Taken from Foood's website; "I'm only accepting requests to use my icons commercially (for payment). ". That to me states he does profit from the icons he makes using Microsoft's original material. So you contacted your friend at Microsuck well good for you. What is he going to do about it? Why don't we all just contact Apple about these Windows modding sites that use copyrighted material from Apple without permission? Cause that is about the same as what you did. I don't really care about what Microsuck has to say about all of this. I just stated my views since I am a graphic artist myself.
