The thing is, everyones is different, and its sorta like a competition, to see who can make a better mod of the msn dude, without totally killing him and taking him out.

That's how it always goes: Some people come up with a fun idea, other people join and the rest of a community automatically follows - they have no will on their own. As soon as more and more people are doing it, the original creators become bored with it and the followers try to be unique with the idea. In the end, everyone gets bored with it. It's called mode or trend. Just another case of mindless cognitive perception.
I'm gonna keep this style though. I don't care if everybody gets bored with it. 
An avatar is supposed to be something that reflects / represents you, not something you do just because everyone else is doing it.
