No it isn't 
That's MAC address...
MAC is Mandatory Access Control - a type of security classification which is in opposition to DAC (Discretionary Access Control).
RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) is a form of MAC.

to the post regarding aluminum casing for PC laptops. a 15inch powerbook is around alienware's price. Oh well...what can you do. I might as well buy a mac, my friend works at the Mac store here maybe he can get me a nice deal a powerbook 
This is a hard topic to judge on what do you need when do you need it by what do you want to do with it?
Me I'm using a sager laptop notebook.... yes it is big and clunky and heavy and generalyl a big ass mofo to lug around
but for me it's invaluble especially with raid 1 because I need to have the data mirrored incase of something very very bad happening (it get's dropped a lot and knocked on when I'm out in the field or bangs and other things so all in all it's there for fault tolerance). I'm out there collecting LOTS of data and I can't run the risk of it going missing so I *NEED* it.
As you can see my kind of needs are not necessarily yours raid 1 is not exactly a standard requirement is it?

First of all you need to think realistically about your budget, what you want to use it for and which applications you need or want. Then you have to consider if the OS you want to use (which looks like a case of either XP or OS X to me here from your options) is supported with those applications. Then you finally need to tell us what these are and only then can we help you make an informed choice in the matter.
personally I would go for the 15inch dell xps. I am getting one of them myself and I did quite a bit of research before I am getting it. Granted this is for me, and may not necessecarily be for you, for my needs it works. 17inches really isn't portable and I wanted something inbetween with a rather large screen...thus I settled on the 15 
Just both the Acer Ferrari. Its the sweetest thing . Has everything you could want in a laptop for an unbetable price! I took it the local Apple store to compare with a Power book and caused quite a commotion there. :naughty: . I just finished modding WinXP to Aqua ( Thank you skinners and modders). Sure confused the heck out of everybody at work. :moon: Now I have the best of both the Windows and Mac worlds
dude if you're going to wait for a g5 laptop, you might as well wait for the g6.
point being that they're not going to put one of those puppies out for a while. good luck with the search though
Alienware computers are definitely awesome... however, you could build the same computer in an even cooler case for like $500-1000 less generally
I went through this same indecisive period about four months ago when I was shopping around for a laptop. You need to just assess your needs closely and then from there go with a reputable name brand. If you don't need all of the "whistles and bells" that come with a Mac then you definitely shouldn't get one. I personally would think about looking at the Sony Vaio line of laptops. I bought the GRT280 series which has a 16.1" monitor, 80GB HD, 1GB RAM, 2.8 P4 processor, 802.11G wireless, DVD Burner, etc. To me paying six or seven hundred dollars less than I would have paid for a Mac and still getting all of the above is a good deal. Besides everyone knows that Sony is a very good company and will always stand behind their product. Good luck to you!!!
