Selling My New Ibook

I'm interested. I just received a 12" iBook and I'm having trouble dealing with this tiny tiny screen, and I wouldn't mind upping the processor, either. IM me.

You got it, Bro. It's gettin' kind of late for me so it may not be until tomorrow but I will IM you for sure.

Sad to say this but your better off selling it on ebay, people here just have to question everything.

Thanks, Tinman. I appreciate your advice. I realize that I could get more for it on eBay but I thought I'd give someone here at aqua-soft.org a chance to get their hands on one at less than the market price. I realize I lurk more than anything else but I really like this community and I thought maybe this would be payback in some small way. Does that make sense?

so people aren't allowed to ponder why someone would sell an incredibly expensive computer just 2 months after they got it?

To answer your question, it's a matter of practicallity. I use my computers for play and work and I have a number of applications that won't run under Mac OS. I realize that I could install Virtual PC but that kinda' defeats the point eh? I suppose I bought the iBook more out of curiosity more than anything else. It's a great laptop but by virtue of running Mac OS, it does have it's limitations (for me).

The Apple Store just informed me that my iBook can not be returned / refunded because I ordered it 'customized' with 640mb RAM.

So.... I can't very well afford TWO iBooks.

Sorry to disappoint you, sincerely, but I'm out. >_<

It's such a great offer though, I certainly hope someone here takes you up on it.

#126740

is it still for sale?

i don't have the money at the moment, but im going to see how much my current laptop and guitar amp are worth, im really stuck on the idea of getting an ibook, and the 14" 933 is what i really want. my big question is if it has wifi, bluetooth, or a ram upgrade.

email laydros AT yahoo.com if its still available.

im in NC so if your in the US, shipping probably won't be too bad

They're all compensating for something

And Timmie is right, put it up on ebay. You'll get a much better response. And then throw it here "bid for my iBook at ebay. linkie."

The problem I'm running in to is that I'm kinda' falling in geek love with my lil' iBook. Hehehehehe. That being said, if someone makes me a decent offer, I'll probably take them up on it.

BTW.....I have added Virtual PC and Word for Mac which I'm sure makes the iBook a tad more valuable. I also purchased an Airport Extreme base station and network card for the iBook which I'm willing to throw into the mix.

So......that's where I'm at with this thing. I have a 15" G4 iBook including Virtual PC (installed and working), Word for Mac and an Airport Extreme base station and network card (installed).

Are there still any takers??

Oh.....the iBook also has Konfabulator on it which I paid for. Hehehehe.

Oh no, now there's going to be miniBooks running all over his house.

In seriousness, I think people will be discouraged now to give you an offer because they wouldn't want you to part with you iBook if your not ready. I tried to put that in the most unsuggestive way.

#130412

Have you checked how much the shipping to dubai would be? i would be interested, really.

If you'd sell it for 1000+you pay shipping, I'll buy it.

Also, let me know where you live; I travel a lot and might be able to save you from shipping it..

#135683

Sure I'll buy it for $136... pathetic, I know. It's all I have. Been saving since August on a $5.25 per week allowance (i've spent a couple of times..) for an ibook/PB (can't decide yet). I'm so screwed, I don't think I'll have enough money until the iBooks are G5s :(

#135723

You haven't sold this thing yet? I can't believe it. It is an amazing bargain given the specs and it being almost brand new.

Seph, if you're keen, damn man, pay the shipping yourself, it can't be more than US$100, even then all told it is still a great deal.

#135731

bah, i bet it's sold by now.

#137867

Sorry it took so long to get back to you all. I own a disaster restoration company and we got very busy which took up almost every spare minute of my time. Anyway.....

bah, i bet it's sold by now

Actually, I've decided to keep it. The funny thing is that this lil' bugger actually grew on me as time went on. Maybe it was that glowing light on the front panel that seemed to be saying, "don't sell me" as I lay in bed at night. BTW.....what is that glowing light for anyway? Maybe it was the illuminated apple on the front cover that looks so damn *****in' at night. Maybe it was the the crystal clear desktop that the Quartz engine renders. Maybe it's the simplicity and beauty of OS X. Maybe it's all those reasons and more.

I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to access my PC based customer database but a buddy at www.hardwaregeeks.com calmed my Virtual PC fears and lo and behold, I now have Windows XP (via VPC) on my iBook. VPC runs a bit slow as do the PC based apps. but it gets the job done and that's all I wanted. I also installed Microsoft Office X and I now have full access to all of my PC based documents. Oh yeah, I also installed an Airport Extreme network card and I now have wireless internet access. I never knew the beauty of browsing forums and the like from the comfort of my couch until I installed the wireless network card. I highly recommend it!

I appreciate all of the responses to my thread. You all seem like a great bunch of guys. I would frequent these forums more often but I'm a bit intimidated by aqua-soft.org as I don't have much to contribute in terms of programming/customization knowledge hence I feel as if I would be taking much more than I could give.

I will say this.....I am in awe of what the programmers that frequent this site put forth. Furthermore, this site was instrumental in me deciding to purchase an iBook. What can I say, everyone's enthusiasm is contagious. I just consider myself blessed that I have the resources to be able to be able to buy and iBook.

Oh no, now there's going to be miniBooks running all over his house.

 Actually, there may be some truth to that, Wizard. I'm gonna' be purchasing a 17" PowerBook within the next several months. I'm not quite sure what I'm gonna' do with my iBook but being the sentimental kinda' guy that I am, I will more than likely keep it.
