Safari Firefox Zero Pixel Skin Preview

Reread the post I said that the toolbar icons are only placeholders. So yes the forward and back will be close together and the icons will be safari not osx firefox.

Yes you can use this without windows blinds but it will look lame because your title bar won't be brushed. Unless you are using a brushed vs. But you will still have borders.

Lostspyder This is different from a normal teaser thread do a search I'm batting 1000 everything I've ever previewed I've released.

I believe in you, Pack. :)

Anyway, does that mean that the skin will look really awkward with other VSes?

He thinks that you started from Lynchknot's skin, who is known of not giving permissions for anything >.:P

I am known for? - where the hell do you get that ****. I always give permission when asked - but no one even bothers to ask, they just go ahead and use my jar file.

Yes I have several Safari type themes but they are not updated for new version. I have not made an accurate Safari skin purposely.

I'm tired of people just using my stuff that I spend hours making. I feel like closing my site - future themes i'll keep to myself or share with close friends (if I do close).

BTW i'm not talking about this theme in this thread.

is it possible to use this without windowblinds, and it still looking good? id hate to chage  my vs for an internet browser skin(a really nice one).

Just set up a Per Application setting for Firefox and keep the skin you like for everything else.

#122569

right that's how This is done but I think he meant do you need window blinds to acheive this look so the answer to that is yes.

I won't be releashing this now no need due to aquarius' great skin. I have however combinded the best features of mine and his and it's pretty amazing. about box, real url icons and open and closing book mark folders, real safari pref icons etc etc so just msg me if you want the resources. Oh my own Safari wb skin which isn't itunish.

O dear GOD release it lol there room for another

#123437

hey pack, how about contacting aquarius and giving him resources since he wants to finish some elements and get it 'truer', but nobody seems to be helping him with resources. I'd definitely like those resources, i'll pm you too just in case.

#123503

I agree - I think it would be great to see a combined Pack and Aquarius Safari theme - that way you get the best of both worlds in one! And if there's two WB themes provided (one by each) then that gives you a little extra choice over the style :)

#123511

not one person even aknowledges my post - I see how it is - fine.

#124833

Man, I stay away from here for just a day and what happens? The theme genie comes back. And what is this about him not ever giving permission?!

Lynchknot always gives permission... if you at least show him enough respect to ask before releasing you mod. <_<

Sorry about that Pack.

That is quite the nice theme you have. I'll have to give it a shot when I get back to my own computer.

hey lynchknot, i think pe7er's remark was out of the blue, and i don't know where he would have got that idea from, but he didn't intend insult. :)

most of the modding was just workinprogress, and people seeing if they could convert your saf to a 1:1, and were really 'pre-release' and kindof 'pre-permission' stage(i understand if you disagree with this, and maybe you know something i don't). :)

aquarias' saf theme, which is what most people are using, does not to my knowledge use your resources, though if it does, maybe you should talk to aquarius. :)

The original firebird/fox to safari tutorials gave credit to you for your work(i don't know if your referring to those at all?). :)

I think no reponses here cause its a kindof dead thread after aquarius's. :)

I think everyone appreciate's the theme's you've done for firefox.

hope a-s hasn't p'd you off too much :) :) :)

edit: forgot about the milk themes, don't know if those apply?

#125050

Thanks for responding guys. I did not realize this was a dead thread.

I'm tired of "policing" my themes and defending the privilege of using icons that I got permission for (other themes). I do get angry when I spent hours upon hours trying to perfect a theme - only to see that someone is using most of it or some of it as their own without asking. There have been public releases using the png's I created (out of iconsts work) without asking - so maybe I jumped to conclusions. I myself make themes before permission - then ask for permission using it as an example. Anyway sorry.

Dear Lynch....

You were the person who created (after Apple!) the nicest Phoenix themes, and the themes which got me interested in using Phoenix because I could get it to look so damn good using your skins.

I think it's great that the skinning of Firebird (now Firefox) has been taken on by so many of us here over the last couple of months. Of course intellectual property and permissions and credit for original work is critically important so that contributors feel their work is valued and recognised. You have every right to be annoyed when this principle is ignored!

Having picked, browsed and modified my DT, most people who see my computer say "Gee, I didn't know you had a Mac!" - hehe, if only they knew about A/S (I soon refer them to this site!). I can only imagine Apple's theme designers' reactions to such institutions as Aquasoft, and this kind of analysis certainly makes one empathise a little more with their occassionally bullish position!

As far as developing 'the perfect' Safari goes.....Aquarius's awesome Mod, largely coming out of the blue without the usual teasing, has been a great surprise. Everyone appreciates the efforts of all the developers, skinners and tinkerers.

I hope the talented skinners (Lynchie, Reality, Aquarius, Pack, Reality, RMStock et al) can get together over this project to tidy up the few remaining issues:

* Toolbar font not quite right (I prefer Lucida Mac Bold) and it's a little dark - Hex colour code #33333 seems better than black - but I can't seem to change it in Aquarius's skin by the usual userChrome.css mod) - or is this just a gamma issue bewtween PC and Macs?

* A proper safari download icon for the toolbar.

* Can't use En-US.jar and an unmodded browser.jar for the latest nightlies - some of us like living on the burning edge!!.

Thanks again Lynchknot - the first and preeminent Saf skinner. To paraphrase LOTR - "Great service you could still render".

Pax :D

Id like to see this get released pack, expecialy cause it looks so close to being done. I llike the buttons more then the SAF buttons.

#125204

Is there a pixel-perfect-type Safari theme that's a stand-alone? (i.e., you don't need to replace classic.jar and other files?)

#125234

I agree as well...for the betterment of the community and all fanatics like myself if nothing more, if you both combined your knowledges, we could get a closer "port" of safari than we've ever seen before.

From a computer guy to a computer guy...great work on what you had pack...its obvious you worked very hard to make your port what it is. Take some of that effort you put into your skin and make aquaris's even better :)

just my 2 cents

Post removed.

1. Do not post one message in multiple threads.

2. Do not post in such an old thread unless you want to add something to the discussion. Which appears to be dead.

3. Use Search. There is plenty information on Firefox skinning lying around.

#232838

I see this thread is pretty dead but I'm just wondering if the theme actually died or is the discussion carried on somewhere else?
