Aqua-Soft ForumsSeeing as how I'm not a fan of DesktopX (no offense to those who are), and Y'z Dock isn't accurate enough for me (again, no offense), and moby dock is neat and all, but, again, not accurate enough (why repeat? You can probably quess any way), and in my opinion, ObjectDock sucks (no offense). I decided that I would learn some things about how to make a dock! But first, what features does the dock in panther have? Just so I would know before hand.
New Dock... From Me!? Maybe.
pfffff 2 things for you:
- EVERYTHING SUCKS => well... ok but what do you think is good or bad in the docks??? cause they are very close to the OSX Dock and sometimes with better options or more advanced features... so what's wrong with them??? and what are you going to do??? a new concept??? it's easy to say "it sucks", "it's not good enougth" without any arguments
- WHAT FEATURES => here i can say "You suck man" befor to post this kind of thread you can use the SEARCH ENGINE of the forum cause this question have been asked many time (i know at least 2 thread dealing with it)

make a tour on the forum you'll have all the information you need without everybody having to repeat it 
hey don't be hard on someone who likes my favorite show <_< besides if we get a new dock then we will get a new friend (ok i guess that's a little too weird isn't it??) but hey i prefer mobydock but since it only supports hardware i don't get onclick effects and some other stuff like that.
Ok, in most docks, there is a magnification, auto-hide, separators, backgrounds (customizable) and icons(also customizable) There's also teh ability to hold down the mouse on an icon that links to a folder and view what is in that folder. There could also be plug-ins and the ability to make a drag and drop to the recyclebin, and empty it from the dock...and I dunno what else...
I'm surprised that you found YzDock to be 'not accurate enough'.
I'd like to see what you can come up with. Go on, impress me.
hey, the g4 macs at my work are really "not accurate enough" because every pc u can buy right now is 2 times faster. lmfao

from personal experiance, ive come to find its better doing it yourself then waiting for some one else to do it. if u got the skillz i say go for it.
u may have started a what dock is better war in the porcess but ohwell.
ive used docks on both, and im not sure what the difference is. what exactly did u want to change. saying u want to make a near perfect panter dock is a pritty general statment.
what exactly do u want to change or emulate, whats wronge with curent docks were using now. my advise is to clearly state what your intentions are. makes people less skeptic.
oh and i love InuYasha(the anima). but i think robin is my new fav
I think that YzDock is the best dock which we have. There's only one minus - no tasks, but the task docklet is good for me.
Man, if you wanna make new dock, why not you thinking about something similiar, but better? Maybe you should make animated start-menu with customizable things, "startlets" etc.

Well, a thing they are all missing is new tasks don't appear between the last shortcut icon and the seperator (rather than the right of the seperator) with an arrow and dissapear if that task is closed and it's not a shortcut.
Where the tasks currently are in moby\objectdock is where minimized tasks supposed to go in the form of snapshots. They *only* appear there when minimized.

don't take it bad InuYasha it wasn't said to offence you, jsute take a look closer to the forum to see that many people already talked about new dock, docks features and everything around
After about 15 reply we don't know what you want to do... because saying "i want a perfect nearest dock as OSX panther" this is very general...
I guess you've already used OSX Dock and all the "windows docks" and seen that there is no big difference... everybody can find what he want in at least one of the docks... YZdock for the "purity", MobyDock for the Hardware acceleration and efficiency, ObjectDock for the Docklet support and advance.
What will you dock have that will make us switch??
will you limit your work to have a "as close as possible" dock or will you implement extra features??? (cause that's what you're asking in you thread)
