Explorer Toolbar Mod

Sorry for the double post, but I had over-looked this mod that simply allow you to hide the damned menus instead of cut them out!

Removing the IE/Win Explorer menu bar - Win 9x/ME/2K/XP.

It enables you to have a right-click menu item to hide the menus.

Good thing I have a backup with all the menus intact, I'll have to try this one out after work.

Once again, Wint is the Reshacker god.

Yes,the file 3.reg can hide your IE menubar, and the other two file can hide your explorer menubar. Look my pic

Thanks once again sketching, this is even better (Y)

Sorry to bother you with questions but i saw in your posted image this:

"Finder" / "Documents" / "Network" / "Trash can"

Could you tell me which files are, please?

Also go here and tell me what you think, if it's possible to do it?

Sorry to take your time...

What a great find then wxz8! That definitely beats my other reshack find in ease of use.

Quantic, I was able to simply right-click the items in the explorer sidebar and "rename".

The Recycle Bin/Trash had to use a reg file.

This Annoyances.org article has the reg file needed to put a "rename" item in the recycle bin context (right-click) menu.

Thanks for the reply ;)

So simple i can't believe it....

my regedit file:

 That's so much easier. Wow thanks wxz8.

But I forgot to back up the original Reg values. Does anyone here happen to have the .reg to restore the original "file/edit..." Plz PM me

Just asking for the backup in case I met a sudden need to show the menu...'cos it vanished and I cant find it anymore...I got no right-click command working. Gotta work it out soon. But the backup file would turn out to be useful...

my regedit file:

I've doubleklicked all 3 reg files and applied them, then I restarted the pc, after the restart die menus are gone in Internet Explorer, but still visible in Windows Explorer.

I'm using a german WinXP with SP1, maybe it's because of that? But with IE it works? :(

#116350

I've try the .reg files and that work nicely. unless I wish that I've made backup of the .reg key modified for the same reason that Joleluv

SICZERO => No it should work with your versions too, I think....

What I can tell you is that you needn't to restart your computer, for see the result....

after applying the .reg files open your task manager then kill explorer.exe and restart the process, this way there is no need to restart the computer and you can try to find out the problem faster....

SKETCHING => I'll try that if that work well I think I'll keep that mod.... :P

Well thanks, it now works, but after I start windows explorer, the menus are gone, but underneath the icons is the adress bar/line (sorry don't know what it's called like in english), so I rightklick and deselect the adressbar, after that the adressbar is gone but the menus are visible again! when I close explorer and start it again the menus are still there.

I also tried to deselect the adressbar and then I apply the reg files, no difference.

Is there some way to make the adressbar permanently invisible with reshacker?

#116413

Yeah you right......

You did good think man..... No need to find the reg key to put the menu back.....

So for your probleme I don't know what to do, and I'm gonna try hte modification withthe right click option....

#116432

I'm having trouble with the mod of VT....

When I check something, I don't see the little v that show that the option is check.....

If you know what to do tell plz, I'll try to find a solution. -_-

Ok, 1 - Where is the shdoclc.dll?

2 - How do I use the regedit file thingies?

3 - The "Folder" title wasnt in the string you said it was in sketching

4 - Can people upload their reconfigured .dll s and whatnot?

thx

#116457

1. system32 folder.

2. double click reg files to add them to the registry.

3. i don't see folders in that string table either. i see "folders" mentioned in string table 808, though.

4. it's easier to just mod it yourself with reshacker. it takes 5 seconds to do this mod, especially if you just copy and paste the text into the window and compile, then save.

@sketching, have you figured out how to get the menus working properly? i get two submenus, linkage and tools, that no longer work after the mod. i haven't taken a look at wint's code long enough to see what i need to change.

#116467

ok, thx for the help but, none of this is working for removing the "file, edit..." menu bar... Do I have to put the .reg files in a specific place?

#116472

no, you don't need to put them in a particular place. there are probably several, one to enable the tweak, and one to undo it. just double click the right file and it'll add it to the registry, then reboot.

create a restore point first. i haven't tried this, so i don't know if it works or not.

#116474

Lmao, everything worked, i just needed to reboot.

#116496

About not finding the correct string for the "Folders" string.

According to Virtual Plastic:

Shdoclc.dll

String #189 The "Folders" title of the folders explorer bar panel.

That's where I've found it too. I have yet to try the reg file but the other menu mod (allowing you to simply hide the menu bar just like the address bar) didn't work for me. It seems that mods that don't involve cutting out the items altogether don't work too well.

#116591

The reg file works well but the menu comes back when you customize the toolbar....

If someone could fix it that would be better.... :P

Sorry but I didn't understand what you mean.....

I understand the four letter word but I don't understand the screen shot !

#116649

I think sketching can interpret that what he's telling me is wrong.

#116662

Everything worked for me. :D, yet I still want to get rid of that line too..

<_<

Change the word System to something else and see what happens.

Mine said system too because I started with a modifies file.

Alexman2525,

I found the border is a bitmap image in the VS. It can be found easily in stylebuilder. I stil haven't found it using reshacker though, maybe I'm looking in the wrong file.

#116914

:D Fine now...everything working fine. Thank y'all, and specially wxz8.

the WinT tutorials are of great help. A little bit paitience would bring good view (Y)
