Font Shadow (desktop)

How could I remove the shadows behind filenames of icons on my desktop? My icons have a black shadow.

The only thing i can do is to disable the transparent backgrounds but then a blue backgroud even looks worse.

It also differs if i use cleartype or not.

System Properties -> Advanced -> Setting -> Visual Effect -> Untick "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop"

Then i get a non-transparent text but i want a transparent one with no shadow.

I attached a screeni and you see that the shadow isn't equal and look awful, imho.

you can use winfx to have

1. no shadow

and

2. no 'coloured' box around the icon text.

but it is a bit buggy(ie. when you use this, or maybe any?, desktop icon setting through winfx any icon you place on your dt will have its intial placing in the upper left corner stay, even though the 'icon' moves to where you place it. the original 'trace' icon can be eradicated with a refresh, but it ends up getting really annoying.) It does look good, but it introduces new annoyance.

Lynchknot was getting highly annoyed with this a few months back, and maybe he's found a solution?

you can find winfx at stardock.com, though i don't know if you have to get the enhanced version(pay for it) to get this option. Just fiddle with the settings acedriver mentioned and the winfx settings and you'll figure it out, if you can live with another buggy stardock product.

edit: there's also a couple of small apps that set your dt icons to 'tile' which might help you, but they're buggy too.
