Ok all you macheads out there. How can I use themes without shapeshifter. I downloaded themeeditor or whatever it was called, and it started mumbling about aqua fix etc etc etc. So I ask you, what do you use instead of shapeshifter to apply themes to panther, not guikits, but the dlta themes
Themes With Panther
Duality actually does work with Panther.
Just make sure you are using a theme that was desgined for Panther.
yeah, it works, but not perfectly, even the one that is supposedly for use with panther. Finder crashes, etc etc etc.
Oh well, i suppose I could save the couple of bucks for shapeshifter
yeah, ive encountered this same problem, and any further development of themes seems to be going towards SS being the only way around (i know there are always eays, but for mac n00bs like me is not so viable).
I have chosen to pay up the 20 bucks for SS ![]()
I agree- ShapeShifter will likely become the standard, simply because it is the first app to offer 'safe theming'. When theming in Puma, Jaguar, etc, you had to edit important system files, which could make the system unstable. ShapeShifter uses a different method that leaves the system stable. Since this is the case, look for Duality and other theme-changers to die out with Jaguar.

Well, personally, I don't think that themes in Panther are all that popular or even developed. I don't know if it's just that I can't seem to find the theme packages on the Net or what... but I haven't yet found any theme that will do justice to Panther's standard theme... Thoughts?
I agree with you Myuu. I tried using that iPod inspired theme, but it was just so bland. I tried ShapeShifter for a few days, but have been with the Panther default theme for 2-3 months now, with really no intentions of changing it. It's very easy on the eyes.

Well i have in my ShapeShifter themes 21 panther themes most of them with sub-themes, i think that is pretty generous themewise!
Plus, after the 9th, the themes that have been participation on Unsanity's theme ocntest will be released to the public to be downloaded, the mac theming world will be full of new sweetness im sure

*wonders why the "Fast Reply" option isn't available on every single thread and forum*
Yeah, well Seph, you really need to give me some links to those themes then... ^^;
Well one of the best Mac themers out there is Max Rudberg, and he is almost done converting all his themes to Panther.
He just released the panther version os OS XP and it looks pretty sweat, considering it looks like XP. He did a really fantastic job.
And let's not forget, he also created Smooth Stripes, which he was kind enough to let us have it as a port for XP.
Uguuuuuu~
I bought an iBook for many reasons, and one of those reasons was to get away from ugly ugly ugly Windows XP... That's simply 3v1l... :6

The other ports are Milk (ported my KoL as you know) Brushed (sort of a port by KoL called iTunes) AA (Kol), BBX MercuryX (made 1st by BBX but who's counting, port by ?), and Rhapsodized (port by ?)
youd be able to get more than enough themes here:
