Actually you're wrong based on my experience and based on others expeirences we both could be wrong so that makes us all wrong and why threads like this suck which was my first point in the first place. There are people who turn off all theming because it takes up too much resources on their computer.
There must have been something wrong with your computer though if WB took 50MB of ram and ate up your processor. Either that or you are lieing or greatly exaggerating from negative interpretation. I have a much slower computer than you and it doesn't take any more resources than a visual sytle does, especially after I shut off the themes service.
BUT at any rate I was simply saying that visual styles take resources I wasn't comparing them to anything else, until you had to say something like that. Or maybe more accurate is I'm saying compared to classic they take more resources. It's simple logic when you count up how much memory a bitmap in a theme takes compared to no bitmaps or resources to paint versus no bitmaps as in classic. Though on a fast processor it should take up negigable CPU, even with WB.
So keep using visual styles if it works better for you. But that doesn't mean that other things don't work well or better for others.
BTW I have been using WB for 5 years, and have tried others such as EFX, chroma and visual styles.

Smoke is right about saying that skinning will take up extra resources. And he wasn't making any comparisons at all.
And the idea behind this thread wasn't to see which is better, but which one each individual prefer. PREFER is just an indication of one's choice. Please respect each other's opinion and not attempt to put them down.
If you prefer WB, fine. That's your choice. If someone else prefer SXP, great, go ahead. Period.
This is a good one...I use styleXP with no resources checked...as smooth as a babies bum... no probs at all!
WB (after disabling sxp) is bloatware on my pc. I think this a a case for different strokes...

sorry Smoke I miss interpreted your post. I like the capabilities of windowblinds but as you say there is probably something wrong with my computer cause those numbers are not exagerations. So for me its a matter of what has not slowed my system down so I have chosen style xp. but I would recommend giving windowblinds another shot because of its capapbilities.

WindowBlinds has the cool inverse theme thing going on and the left side buttons as an option but, I have to go with the UXtheme.dll because that's all I really need.

Well Im a WindowsBlinds 4.2 user now and I still have StyleXP and well, Im enjoying WindowsBlind because I can make the Per Application setting wich is very good to make some Apps use Brushed and other Panther. However StyleXP is soo cool, and I have my Favorite theme there.... Three Drives Panther 4.0
I would love too see it ported to WindowsBlinds, and from what I see WindowsBlinds and StyleXP use about the same Memory, soo just select the most usefull one for you

i use style xp to load up the theme's. but i have it on zero resoures, and i shut it all down once the theme is loaded. so really im not using style xp either. But its good cos its faster and 0 resources, and its also good cos im lazy and it means i dont have to extract everything to the resources folder, i just click 'load new visual style' and it does it for me 
uxtheme patch. As it takes up the least recources considering disabling the theme service on my pc cause serious instability.

I just want to chime in here - since I started this whole thing - I didn't intend for this to be a debate, just a friendly poll with some comments. So, I apologize for leaving the door open for some toes to get stepped on - but it seems like all is smoothed out now.
To those who can't see why WB runs like a snail on my box, I have no idea either. I think that it is probably due to the fact that I just don't know how to properly optimize my system (I often think that I can, but duhh). So, my only choices are either to stick with SXP or do a patch; but I've already tried the patch route and that just totally screwed things up for me - had to do a reinstall of XP.
