i think its because of the canadian south park characters. but i'm not sure :canadian:

Is it Just Render, or all of the Filters?

I think that it may be due to the image format or the color depth.

Make sure that you're using either RGB or CMYK color space and not Indexed Color.

If I jump into the Way-back machine, I vaguely remember having that problem a long time ago, and I think that's what the issue was.

yeah, it has to do with which image mode you are in, grayscale will not allow you to render, also in 16 bits per channel you will not have access to the render filters. In all the other color modes you will have access to some of the render filters but not all

Render will only work in certain modes:

RGB - all render filters

CMYK - clouds, diff clouds, fibers only

Grayscale - same as CMYK

Duotone - same as CMYK

Multi Channel - same as CMYK

Lab - clouds and fibers only

Bitmap - none

Indexed - none

hmm

i was using 16bits :/

i get acces to some filters but Render was not among them, must be cause of 16bits.

i`ll try using 8bits

@ DTOXX - thanks

PS one more stupid question (i`m a PS ****ie remember ;) ) - how do i save layer style? I did what it said in a tutorial but it didn`t save and i had to start all over again :(

Open up the Layer Styles window, and apply the styles you want (Drop shadow, Inner shadow etc.) and when youre finnished, simply press new style :)

PS: no questions are stupid btw ;)

wrong forum to post this in, no?

EDIT: nevermind, it is indeed very well placed. just read the forum description. threw me off thinking it would only pertain to iLife apps.

most of the time, working in 16-bit colour depth isn't needed in PS. You'll find it very restricting as you can't play with all the features on offer. I find 8-bit RGB to be the best for learning.

thanks guys ;)

this really helped :D
