what is the best laptop? I was looking into it for a friend and im trying to help him...i cant decide....
Dell Or Alienware?
I think you need to go into detail on what the laptop will be used for. Is it going to be used for mobile gaming, or just like used for school or a job, etc. Then maybe I can point you in the right direction. ![]()
i dotn think brand actually matters, its what is inside, if your going for looks id get an alienware, although they do have some pretty good pc's. dont know though, just my thought.
its about notebooks. brands matter. ALSO: if im looking to alienware in general.....what does their website say? ultimate gaming machines? yeah....thats waht im going for. ultimate gaming machine. and i said the Extreme....thats a gaming one.
First, there's no 'best' of two. There's only whichever's better.
Next, you're not giving people enough information into helping you. ![]()
Third, the incessant postings you have done, and where your "LAST POST OF THE NIGHT... I SWEAR" was followed by yet another posting raises doubts on your credibility. Especially one which indicates your urge to rise up your ranks (by increasing post counts.)
I believe that Stevie BM has already warned you that posting with the aim of increasing your post counts will only lead you to being... :goku's job: .
Hope that helps. :bye:
um im sorry that i have a problem on my hands. im looking at a dell 5150 and alienware extreme. they have similar specs. if you dont know what those computers are and their current specs then...>DONT POST NETHING! if you dont know that both are meant for performance (alienware is meant for gaming pretty much) then...DONT POST! im soooo sorry that i have things on my mind and that THIS IS A FORUM!
if i have something worthwhile to say, i'll say it. everything i ahve said tonight i have said not to raise my count (IT WONT WIN ME AN AWARD! I DONT CARE!) but to have fun and talk with you guys. ugh. stevie bm, what should i do
Why isn't there an option for "neither"? Alienware are overpriced and Dell's quality has been going downhill for some time. ![]()
And seriously noexfex, stop spamming up mulitple threads. <_<
i guess you are right. well.....ibm is good but they are WAY underpowered. i would say forget laptops...but...
and if i have something worthwhile to say can i NOT say it?
Fair enough. What's so worthwhile about talking about American Idol?
Because these aren't worth while. In the space of what.. An hour you've posted over half a dozen threads each with little meaning or they could of at least been grouped into one discussion. ![]()
Topic Moved.
noefex, are you just trying to irritate me, or what?
Post in the appropriate forum - PC hardware in the Hardware\PC forum.

Well spotted on the bold - that just goes to show how quickly I close threads when I find 'em ![]()
As for underpaid... I'm willing to accept 50% of the going moderator's fee... But then, 50% of $0 is $0, right? <_<
Oh dear,... The Alienware false hype again.
ok.
1. Dell at the moment has severe issues, the I8600 is only available in Centrino (400Mhz FSB) form and is made of a creaky plastic. THe I5650 only has the weak Geforce Go 5600FX.
2.
a.) Alienware is good but the 3.2 Ghz model has 533 Mhz FSB, and the MR9600 is on a daughterboard this causes it to be slow in games.
b.) The Alienware is definitely not worth the price, considering it is so slow.
c.) The current Sentia and A51m models suffer from screens that are under par, contrast ratio of 300-350:1 and brightness of only 150. Most complain of yellowish screens.
3.) The best in my opinion at the moment is the Sager 5680 model. THis is the only notebook with an 800 Mhz FSB, 3.2 Ghz HT CPU, and a non-daughterboard MR9600. THe screen is the best so far (better even than the praised Sharp LCD Inspiron 8600's and the Samsung LCD Inspiron 8600's).
This screen is UXGA, 400:1, 200 Brightness, and 25 ms response time.
Plus it has a view angle of 170 Degrees.
This 5680 also benchmarks the highest out of the three.
No question, Alienware is low quality high price, Dell is underpowered.
Sager is the best.
(Costs half as much as Alienware too)
(PPS: I do not own a Sager)
There is a forum dedicated to this poll's issue.

According to another thread you started a while a go, you own a dual processor 2.0 G5, wouldnt it be better to just get a powerbook?
if he owns a Dualie, Aqua-Girl liked my DarkSide config!
Hehehehehe, im pretty sure he doesnt, i was just being ssarcastic, oh well, he wont reply anyway, luckily he has been banned for a week...
Some peace at last.
Anyway, not that I want to get any more PCs in future, but are there any pre-built PCs out there which are seriously value for money?
Just wondering. It's fine if no one answers to this.
alienware yo ![]()
If its value you want, the best place in the UK is www.novatech.co.uk, they do custom pc's as well. Very reliable as well, and they should serve the US.

Sager 5680,...
Google it.
Indeed, Three Drives. It's a power notebook. ![]()
Great specs, but it looks bulky and not as sleek though.
Thanks for sharing! ![]()
1 to 1.5 hours of battery life? youre joking right? so much for an 800 FSB machine >.

Google it.
That's the one the Go-L technology laptops were based on isn't it?
/me remembers the "Are they for real?" Go-L debacle of 2003
Yes and no,....
5680 is actually manufactured by Clevo as the D500P, then sager, eurocom, go-l, etc, buy them and resell them under a different name, but it's the same machine.
This is why go-l is a joke, they sell the standard Clevo D500P (which costs $2500 decked out) for like $5999.
Go-L just rips you off. When you can buy the same machine from Sager at the normal (cheap) price.
