Awesome! Thanks a lot! (Y)

beautiful, thanks man!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Very nice.Lovin' it!

#105071

very nice and thanks albeik but still needs an icon for each day...

#105086

I've been debating whether to use one icon and just write the text on top of it or simply use multiple images for each day of the year... I realized that you cannot achieve the flexibility with having seperate icons. I can (for example) have different icons for different days as reminders or for each month a different color, and so on...

To write the code for 1 icon will require to code a flexible dialog box that can easily let any user configure:

1. what to write on the icon

2. how many labels on the icon to write

3. formatting the border size of each label

4. ability to format each label seperately (font, size, color, transparency, ...)

5. ability to rotate each label seperately

6. ability to add borders, shadows, outlines for each label seperately

Even with the above options you will not be able (for example) create something like this.

At the end, if the community (after all -- I do this for the community ;)) wants such a docklet, I am willing to dedicate time to create it. :)

Make it configurable :)

For example, I have a calendar docklet for OD which can do:

- Use one single image and draw the day/month on it

- Use two different images (one for month, one for day)

- For "special days" (e.g. x-mas) a different image can be defined

- Also, because my calendar can handle appointments/notifications, the user is able to set different images for the calendar for every different time he chooses :canadian:

I think it is best if you implement something where still the one-icon-per-day method is used, but where the user, as an option, can set different icons for different days.

Just my thoughts :smartass:

I like both ideas albeik and AndreasV suggested. albeik's provide simple configuration options for the possibility of simple skins. AndreasV's give more control to the look of it at a greater expense to simplicity (ie. skins need to be made and can't be adjusted on the fly by regular users).

I think it'd be great if we could have an option for one and the other. Of course, this might be asking for too much.

I have a suggestion of my own which I think can improve on AndreasV's suggestion:

The docklet would read a skin.ini defining the look of a calendar set (it'd be nice if it were able to do this from an archive file containing the ini and pngs). The ini file would allow specifications for 12 images for each month (to allow for a different background image per month), 31 images for each day of a month, and special days defined. Alternatively, the months can also be defined by one image background and sat/hue alterations. Same with the days (to allow for sat/hue changes for Sat/Sun, or the special days).

I think such a docklet would still allow for flexibility w/o the need for 366 separate images. If the sat/hue function is implemented, a minimum of only 32 (+ special days) separate images are needed (w/o, it would be a minimum of 43 (+special days)).

Thats no necesary. I mean, you can do both things :D. Choose the how the docklet will work. One icon with more options to configure or many icons with no configs ;)

Thanks albeik for your time and effor to develop this docklets to the ppl (like me) that still using yzdock :D

#105254

This is great, I recently ditched the iCal docklet in favor of a samurize replacement. After I decided to go back to the docklet, I couldn't find it at your site. :(

What a pleasant surprise to find a better one two days later! :woot:

Can't wait to try it later today.

Thanks.
