Yzdock .5 Bugs

Sometimes the magnification is a bit slow when you haven't hovered over the dock for a little while and then suddenly hover over it.

Y'z Dock 005 installed over 042. When right clicking a dock icon, Alladin Stuffit Expander 7.5 is activated and I cannot access icon properties. Uninstalled Stuffit Expander, now the proper icon properties dialogue appears. Weird.

Yeah, I'm getting that also! Have you reinstalled StuffIt again to see what happens?

Peace,

Grusic

#8668

Nope, I have not reinstalled stuffit- I don't really need it.

#8669

I have stuffit and I have absolutely no rpoblems at all.

#8671

Dont know about you guys, but when I try to open the Dock Item properties, instead of Stuffit opening Norton starts running a virus scan on the Shortcut.

BTW: Running Norton SysWorks 2003 + Personal Firewall 03

I had a similar problem when testing this v.5 beta. It was because I had a registry hack for XP installed that adds the MoveTo\SendTo functions to the right click menu. I removed the entries from my registry, rebooted and that solved the problem.

This hack adds this line to your registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex]

If you search for that entry you will see a folder called 'shellex' you have to delete that whole folder with everything inside it.

Once you remove this registry entry and reboot all should be good :D

OK i did that, that totally removed the 'Send To' which i used. so i added it back, now it opens QuickSFV instead.

ok guys, I made a new reg file that will work with Y'z Dock and you'll be able to have the Send to, Copy to and Move to on your right click menu. Here's the link to download the file:

Send_Copy_MoveTo.zip

You will have to remove the old tweak that people were using prior to this one as that added a key for Win98 that no longer exists in XP and that is what is creating a conflict with the old tweak.

I know y'all know how to use this file but I have to add this to protect myself...I take no responsability if you use this file and it causes any sort of damage to your computer. If you do not know how to tweak the registry I advise you not to use this tweak.

#8696

that gives me the same problem again

#8700

hmmmm, did you remove each and every entry in the old hack first? Also you have to reboot since this modifies your right-click menu. Works here and on my other 2 boxes so I don't know why it wouldn't there unless there are remnants of that old tweak still in the registry and that's why it's still giving you the conflict.

#8702

maybe iim not understanding what you mean by the 'old hack'

i didnt have any hacks for the sendto in the registry

Thank you marvilla!

we're in your debt

i was wondering what was the problem.

an angle has fixed it.

Look at my first post in here. If you have that registry entry you need to remove it, reboot and then merge these new entries that the new reg file adds.

Your last post before I shared this new reg file says "i added it back, now it opens QuickSFV instead." If you have that reg entry in there and it's in this location:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex]

then that is the one that is causing the problems. If you have removed this old one, rebooted and merged the new reg file and it still doesn't work for you then we'll have to see if anyone else can come up with something else I guess. It works here and that's why I shared it with you guys.

Anybody's having problems with the "Property of Dock Item" menu? It doesn't work at all for me, so I'm unable to edit the items once they're in the dock... weird.

Besides this, the new version is the best one till now, it really rocks! :)

You were right dear lady :) it worked like a charm. I didn't do it before because I don't remember to have tweaked anything of that kind. Anyway, thanks a lot Marvilla, you're a master! :) :)

This v.5b should not be installed over an older version of Y'z Dock, nor should you use the old .ini files from the earlier releases. The folders structures have changed so a clean install is the ideal in this case. I think about 90 % of the crashes and problems I have seen users have with Y'z Dock are from people overwriting a newer version over the older one. This is a beta application and it's files\folders structure change with almost every release. To overwrite older files with newer ones for the most part usually leads to problems with the application.

Marvilla, I have that registry key on my system, but I did not add it manually. One of the programs I have must have created that key- I'm not sure which one. Thanks for the tip, though. In my case, uninstalling Stuffit Expander took care of the problem.

Hi Marvilla,

Thanks for the reg fix.

I applied the fix here and it works without having to reboot.

All the best,

Hi :)

I have addet the recyclebin as a docklet.

But when i click the icon, it says:

::{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing ths action. Creat an association in the Folder Options control panel."

The icon changes if the bin is full/empty.

But i still can't open it.

Is there a way to fix this? I couldn't find anything in Folder Options.

TIA

Best Regards.
