Aqua-Soft Forumsi've been an exclusive pc user for almost 15 years, and i've never even given macs a second thought. some find this surprising since i work as an art director and i'm the only one at the office that goes home to xp. however, two days ago the office moved me up from os9 to osx, and quite frankly, it r0xx0rs.
to sum it up, it just feels solid. i mean when i run programs, i feel like it's doing what it's supposed to be doing, not leaking memory. also the lack of .bak's and .dat's and all the tons of data debris pc's leave behind, i feel like osx is cleaner. sure this could all be going on in the backgroud, but ignorance is bliss.
but the biggest thing--the interface. you can tell the peeps at mac really put heart into developing aqua. every little detail, from shadows to icons, is focused on pleasing the user. funny thing is, i recently read this article online (if i could only find it now) about how people at micro$oft is trying to change their approach with longhorn and focusing on making the user 'fall in love' with the interface. will aqua-soft.com become plex-soft.com? to quote a commercial: I DOUBT IT. (new englanders will get that joke)
now, quite frankly, i'm kicking myself in the ass because i just blew a grand out of my ear on my new pc, when i want to switch to macs. but as a bit of advice, if you're thinking of picking up a new system, i highly recommend macs. if you like to play games and watch divx movies, you should probably stay on a pc. but if you have to spend a lot of time behind a computer doing work, you won't regret using os x.
