Dislike Brushed? Get Smooth.

I found this while wandering the web (like you do). It's an installer that removes the brushed-look and makes the metal look luvverly and smooth.

(I'm not sure if it comes with a restorer, so please don't use it if you find the look okay.)

Shiny! :)

Cool, I might need this screenie.

...hmm, I'm not sure what's better, brushed or polished?

I forgot to ask; Since this modifies some system resources, would it effect all users? Or only the one that was used to install it? (So you could have a regular user account and a "Polished" one depending on your mood)

don't know, don't have a mac as the most I have ever been able to spend on a pc is £750.

If it changes the actual brushed system files then it will affect all users, it would probably be better to make a theme out of it for the mac theme thing and use that instead.

Lovely change for a new look.

Thanks es.xxi for that find! ;)

I wished I had one too. But I'd keep the link, and give it a try when I do have one! ^_^

I want to try it, but I don't know if I'll be able to remove it and go back to the Brushed look after I apply it... Any ideas?

try this little APE myuu, i am running it at the moment, you will need to have APE manager isntalled tough. It works on panther even if it doesnt say it supports it.

Metallifizer 1.2

a free haxie by unsanity

What is Metallifizer?

Metallifizer controls brushed metal appearance on all Cocoa applications under Mac OS X 10.2: it can enable or disable all Cocoa brushed metal appearance (this includes Address Book, iChat, Calculator and others, but not iTunes and QuickTime Player, as the latter are Carbon applications).

IMPORTANT: This is an Application Enhancer module.  It requires the Application Enhancer 1.2 or later to function.  Please make sure you have it installed before installing this module.  Application Enhancer can be downloaded from http://www.haxies.com/ape/.

Thanks Seph! I'll keep it in mind!

I think we have a possible port on our hands, unfortunately I am not the man to do it :shy:

Brushed seems better to me anyway.

#106668

It is when you get used to it. ^^

There's a uninstaller included with the package, don't know if it works tho

As with most OS X gui mods, when you change the look of something via a resource replacement, it affects all users.
