[help]how To Fix My Codecs?

After installing Realoneplayer (which was a very stupid thing to do) my codecs decided to die on me. When viewing some avi/mpeg files (with divx or without)basically anything that has to do something with a codec the picture is all messed up. Some of the pixels are too large, the picture is very unclear and is blurred or foggy & the best part is that the video/movie is out of focus on screen (for example with some files you can't see 10% of the video) - in other words not a pretty sight.

To avenge the death of my codecs I uninstalled realoneplayer & re-installed Nimocodecpack (507) & divx codecs which I use to watch certain files.. but it didnt help. Everything is still the same & I ran out of ideas. Does anyone have a solution? :)

1. be careful with codec packs. they can destroy systems.

2. what's your graphics card? you might be zooming in. i know for my nvidia card, once i zoomed in and all my videos were zoomed in all the time. bring up the graphics card properties > overlay controls > and zoom out.

I wish there was a codec destroyer...

Recently, I had a lot lof trouble with codecs not working on my computer. Uninstalled them , reinstalled them, played around with them ect....

I had alot of problems with certain codecs not working and image quality. Then I tracked them down to my video drivers. I had omegas nvidia drivers installed so I rolled them back to a previous standard nvidia state and now everything works fine. (Y)

well god-damn. why the hell would my nvidia videocard want to zoom in on movies? that was the case. the picture is still somewhat messed up, but my "out of focus" problem is solved :) tnxcx

whee! glad we fixed one problem.

i'm not sure about the picture quality, though. it could be anything.

First try a difrent player

second go and get the kazzalight codec pack, works perfect. (its kinda tricky to find, but its out there, like 2 or 3 megs)

third are you shure your HD didnt curopt the files or soemthing (dumb, but it has to be asked)

Before finally fixing this problem I managed to install nimo codec 509, reboot, install nimo codec 507, reboot, install kazaa codec pack (some version), reboot again and now everything seems to be fine :)

Tnxc for helping me out & never install realoneplayer :staffs here:
