How Do You Like The Newest Board Changes?

I`ve just noticed that the board has changed. New discussions (OSes, Web Design, etc), new badges :6 (they look lousy with Panther skin (white, pixelated edges, see the pic)) so i was wondering how do you guys like this?

I`m guessing this is the part of "expanding" that Tim was talking about some time ago. It might be just me but i`d like A-S to stay the way it was, GUI emulatuion, only community.

@Tim - where`s that new user rating system that you have promised us long time ago. I really miss the old respect system?

Kind of makes me wonder, are TCPU and A-S combining? Also, I, for one, like the new badges. It goes with the new labels that are in Panther and are different than having to old ones. It was due for a change.

I loved the pantherization of hte badges and the new contributor badge, some people do deserve it, for example, Goku cannot stay badgeless can he?

Way to go Tim and whoever else is behind these changes.

Lol, goku's just a contributor because I had to move someone there, we will be adding groups soon, everyone might just have their own badge...

The changes are a good idea, but it makes checking new posts a "female dog" with the rapid growth of the site.

EDIT> Ha! Didn't see the new badges. If you're like me and can't see 'em, press ctrl + f5 to clear the IE cache.

Expanding could be good and bad, I won't let this site turn into more of a "mr. hankey"hole than it already is (sarcasm).

But now that I've come to think about it, why have 5 million sites for different things, like how I directed you guys to twistedcpu to post about computer stuff, its not right, why not just open another forum for people to post stuff there, an all in one site. I do not want to move the main focus of the site off aqua, but why not allow people discuss other stuff rather than aqua crap here? Time for a change?

Also I would really like to see more news posted other than just aqua related stuff. I'm going to see about getting VirtuaNews for this site so we can have different categories say Customizing news ( default ), Tech Related ( new apple? ), and software ( new versions! must have )

just ideas... I would like to see this site become more of a homepage.

What kinds of groups Tim?

I hope there won`t be too many of them. I`ve seen boards where there were so many groups and badges that people stopped caring about them and the authority they should represent.

PS Any hope of ANY respect-like rating system? I`d really like to show some pple my respect (or in few cases the lack of it)

It`s just i feel that boards have become too crowded. As Lou said, it`s become hard to find new posts i care about. I didn`t say that expanding is a bad thing, you just shouldn`t let A-S water down (no pun intended).

I`m affarid that we (the community i love) will fall apart, when (even more) newcomers, start pouring from all sides. :cry:

YES!! id love that, so many times i have wanted to post about news that might interest people but are not aqua related per se and hesitated, that would be great Tim.

I agree with unbeliever on the people loosing respect... but not totally, if someone has a badge that says member, its not as if this person would feel overly special, over a mod for example...

@ seph - true, but still badges should be something special. you said it yourself, "normal" members wouldn`t care about a "member" badge, so why bothering and giving it to them.

@ wiz - boy i`d love that! I`m scouting Apple rumors sites daily and i would love to post about possible new things from Apple (maybe in a rumors thread?)

I try to get to know about anything new from Apple. so i`d love to be able to post news about Apple`s HW/SW

Oh, and I think that A-S should merge with AquaXP. 60% threads repeat, almost the same people...isn't it a good idea?

I like that. I reckon it's a fairly good idea, with the reasons Pe7er mentioned, and that both sites are with the same objectives, why not?

BTW, the new badges look great. Panther-ised, and fresh. Nice change. Kudos to whoever implemented them.
