Hi all 
Need to know what the average screen res around here is for my build of macishorg. I don't really want to do it catering for 800x600 cause i have been doing that for years and i want to be able to have some more room lol! If the average res around here is higher than 800x600 then i'll build it at a higher res.

You should do it at 1024x768 as that is the most supported screen resolution above 800x600.
Most Graphic Design programs nowadays require 1024x768 or higher and they are top of the range, need as much room as possible, applications so really I don't think you should need to do it higher than 800x600.
you forgot 1280x960 ... thats what i´m using
I strongly recommend you to do it in 800x600, even if not so many people use it anymore. Nothing is worse than having to scroll a webpage horizontal. And it wont be so much bigger with 1024, so i do recommend you to use 800x600
already looked at it in 800/x600, and i cant actually fit the design i want to use into the space. Maybe i'll have to code a res sniffer?

I have a screen resoultion of 1400x1050.
How about something like this though: Here
It has a redirect script so that it detects the reolution you are using and automatically redirects you to the correct version of the site for your resolution.
If you would like this script feel free to ask me however you would like.

I added the 1280x960, the RIGHT rez ever. I had debates with ****s a while back that it sux and 'distorted' until they realized that 1280x1024 is the fukked up one. In fact, it doesnt exist on macs since it will "smash" the look of images (and NO vfx company uses that weird ratio of 1280x1024)
You gain NO more space but just as if u squeeze the screen to get what, 64 pixels only? Those who use x1024 havent evolved yet. Try to tell me you like it more or argue its better, whatever. :moon:

Using 1280x1024 because I'm so used to it the x960 looks a little odd (even though I know the x1024 is an odd ratio).

... is a fine well proportioned resolution, and the higher my Samsung17" goes with 77hz on refresh rate... i would very much like to use 1280x960, but then i should stick with 60hz refresh rate... and that, besides hurting the eyes, it´s create some strange patterns on flat colors.

I use 1280x960... Wish I could go to 1600 but my old crappy monitor doesn't support 85hz refresh rate at 1600 >.

Why not support all resolutions with a no-fixed-width design?

What kind of craziness are you "cant actually fit the design" into 800x600?

1024 by 768 is the best, most users use it, even if not all of them vote in this poll, plus, in 1280 by something, you can view a smaller site, but in a smaller res its a pain to scroll.
i dislike a maximized browser, and thus prefer a web design size of 800x600.
this still allows to you view IM windows, msn list, downloads, etc in the extra desktop room.
not in to "liquid" designs... don't know why. Will do them when i have to for work, but seeing as this is down to me on this one, I'll probably use a sniffer and do it that way.

Obviously totally crazy... I can't fit the content the way i want it into 800x600... but never mind.
Will endevour to do an 800x600 verison sometime, but for now the 1024 version is in the works.

I won't argue that it's 'better', but when one has an LCD screen which has a 5:4 physical ratio, it does seem to make sense to use a resolution with the same aspect ratio.
I'm using 1280X1024 on my LCD. I tried x960 and everything looked like crap
I'm using 1056x792 because i'm awesome.
two 1024x768 monitors.
15" LCD
17" CRT
For the web page resolution prob: Just use CSS, and dont worry about it.
