Having A Little Problem With "dark" Themes

Hi guys (and gals ),

Ok, so I wanted to switch from my nice white milky theme which i have now been using for oh so long to a cool black theme. Simple. Didnt like the themes out there, so i though, "i can just invert the colours on my milk theme, right?".

Right, I can. Thing is, though, because of the windows colour settings for dialogues and app backgrounds etc that get set when you do this, the page background in word goes dark as well. This is a problem because when you print it, it actually prints it like that! I have tried excluding the app from being skinned, but because its the windows colour settings affecting it, that doesnt work. I have also tried messing around with the colour settings but that makes things look crappy. I dont suppose anyone else has had this problem and found a way to work around it?

I dun think there's any way to work around it. Something similar to this was also asked in another forum, but it seems that 'window colour settings' is fixed.

Damn, this Word is so stupid...it's one of the most un-intuitive apps I have ever seen. Using it = horror >.

The only way that you can change the page white is to keep the Application Background colour white (You can test this by going to advanced in the Themes section of the display panel. and changing it like you would in the older versions of windows). This is the setting that changes the page colour in word.

The other alternative is to change the normal.dot setting so that the page automatically has a white background added and black, although I don't know how that would print.

Thanks for the help people In the end I managed to figure out a way to do it. You can set a default theme to use for new documents in word... If you find one with a white base colour and select that, (you can turn off background graphics etc) and turn on "print background colours and pictures" in the print settings, hey presto! The print preview will show a black margin... but dont worry, it doesnt print

Hope that helps some people out there... I'm happy now cause i can use a black theme in peace lol and still manage to work on my essays for University etc, and produce my film treatment
