iTalk 0.2 (v82) Released!!

As is typical, I have released new versions of all of the Aqua Applications although there are no significant changes to AquaFinder, AquaBrowser, and AquaMail. I have made plenty of tweaks, enhancements, and bug fixes to the AquaControls and iAppControls. The most significant changes are to iTalk. I have added support for file transfers (finally)! I've also got the Preference window about half done.

It's 3:00 am and I can barely think straight. You should be able to over install the new versions without uninstalling the older ones. I'm sure I'm forgetting something...

We should consider a sticky thread for this question...

Short answer: Too soon, Karp.

LOOOOONG answer: iTalk is a beta. It is WAY too early in its stage of development to consider a side issue like the other clients(AIM, Yahoo, ICQ, Etc.). If you notice, the open dialog shows the possibility of using other clients, but for now it has been disabled. Why? Because it is a beta and the base architecture is not yet complete. Until all the bugs are worked out, visuals fine tuned, and so on, iTalk will remain an MSN client. Once Jef has released a final, only then will he consider the other chat client protocols.

Final Note: I just know with our community, someone has an understanding of Client protocols. Why not offer your assistance to Jef so he can focus on the GUI and architecture.

P.S. heh, As many times as I've had to repeat this, I must say, I've fine tuned it to a science.

mmmmh interesting... this finder bar is intended to replace object bar in the future???

i mean... those.. as myself who use object bar have to quot OB and move the start bar to get the preference menu... isn't that a little too much work to reach the preference dialog???

Just set your object bar so it's not always on top. When the Aqua Apps come into focus their menubar will become visible, but when they lose focus, the menubar disappears so your objectbar will become visible again.

(Although you need to download the latest version of iTalk for the menubar to behave correctly).

Really good attempt at the Aqua interface. I am a Mac OS X user and it looks like iChat, but I do notice a few things that just scream "Windows."

If you need help with the Aqua interface I'll be able to help you out.
