If you need a tutorial on changing system files, check out Iceman's, its great!
Sorry to be a pain, but after having read Icemans tutorials back to front, I cannot seem to find a way of inserting the susumu's progress bar
(susumu.avi) into my system.
Please help

Glitzychiwuawa you can do that with ResHacker
Res Hacker can be downloaded from:

Usenet shows nothing.

When your done check out Iceman's tutorial of changing system files..

Thats not the only file you have to edit, you have to edit : shdocvw.dll and shimgvw.dll also.
I did mine at 3:30am, lots more fun than sleep!

Yeah, sorry, Geocities ran out of bandwidth, i guess the AVI was popular.
If that ever happens in geocities, for further refrence, check the site again in an hour. Geocities resets the meters every hour.
Thanks to every one.
Check this out.
My shell32.dll (using icemans shell32.dll actually)
is 15.0 mg
-->>
I put in susumi.avi into 161
--> file = 16.4 mg.
(I didnt know about the other 2 files shdocvw.dll and shimgvw.dll)
The animation worked quite nice when a "copying" box was visible. So I decided it would also be nice for deleting-moving and especially "saving" boxes. ***The "saving" box is especially important as it's the box that comes up when you are saving files off the net.****
---> So I went back into reshacker and put susumi.avi into every avi that I could find, 140 all through 170
--> Shell32.dll was now 28 Mb,... (quite alot considering it goes into /system32 AND /system32/dll cache.
BUT
((
The "saving" box still had the old XP animation!
(
So I went back to the smaller (16mb) shell32 that only had susumi in 161 (the copying box)
--> What do I have to edit to get the "saving" box to be susumid?
Now I will try shdocvw.dll and shimgvw.dll, I have to boot into win98 to reshack replace shell32.dll.
Wish me luck.
Excellent!!!
Those 2 files did the trick.
Anyone know of a quicker way to replace .dll files other than booting into a different os tell me, so I do it and THEN
ask questions ,... so I stop wasting server space ![]()
Thanks everyone.
PS I just started a topic 2 posts down "apple throbber into gpedit.msc NO reshacks"
You gotta check it, useful stuff is being said. ![]()
Contrasutra --one question though.
Do you know which AVI in shell32.dll is the animation for delete? 145? 157?
It's seems that's the only progress bar that still is "xp style" on my system. I want to susumu that one too.
But I dont want to go and replace all avis (140 -170) and end up with a 30 mb shell32.dll again..
You know which one is the delete progress bar?
...
For Contrasutra
It can be done through windows, just rename the original shell32.dll to shell32.bak (for example) and then copy the new one to system32 directory, i replace all system files this way, works fine for me, no need for safe mode, recovery console etc...When windows warns you a system file has been replaced, click no to restore...make sure dllcache is empty first or it will replace automatically..+ No WinXP CD in Drive..
can u please share the icemans shell32.dll with susumi.avi in it?
Please!!
It isn't only shell32.dll but also shdocvw.dll and shimgvw.dll. You will have to get all three.
Anyone have these 3 files edit with the avi and iceman??
Please...I really want it..........thank you~~
Yeah, good Ide..
I innstaled service pak 1 for xp and had to replace all the dll's again, and I haven't put the susumu in shell32.dll, shdocvw.dll and shimgvw.dll....
So PleeeS, I want them to
You can make one for service pak 1 and one for non service pak!!!!!!!! ![]()
billsheng do you have service pak 1 or non service pak????
I'd upload them but I'm on 56k and the shell32.dll is 16.4 mb, and the other 2 are around 2 meg each.
It's real, real easy to reshack the files though.
In shell32.dlll just replace 161 (name AVI, Type 161, Lang 1033) and in the other 2 files replace all AVI's.
Contrasutra any word on which number is the delete progress bar in shell32.dll?
Is it 164 or which one is it?
magbi9, billsheng,
You can download the 3 modified files; shell32.dll, shdocvw.dll and shimgvw.dll as one zip file from the following location:
