Aqua-Soft Forumsok I finally got my hands on the windowblinds version of the Mario sunshine theme and I am converting it to StyleXP, Visual Style or msstyle whatever you want to call it but I can't figure out how to put mario in the start menu like in this pic http://www.wincustomize.com/images/news/10...85130PM1938.jpg or how to put the green lil mushroom guy near the minimization button. Does anyone know if it can be done or how to do it?

OMG, thats so frikken awesome, you honestly are going to turn it into a VS? PLEASE, if you need ANYONE to test it, put me at the top of the list. Oh Yeah, I dont think you can have images on the start menu through Visual Styles.
well if I am unable to put mario in the same location I will probably just take part of his body and put in the top part of the Start Menu panel just left of the thumbnail and user name. Also I doubt I am going to make a beta release unless I get done and see a lot of touch ups I need to do and I already found one <_< . Also if you have Y'z Dock I am going to include Super Mario Bros. and GameCube Icons and a BG that matches the Mario Sunshine them. The Y'z Dock Icons I will be including is made by Josh...don't remember his last name but he is a mac user and has granted me premission to distribute his icons with my bg for y'z dock. =)

i will help with any MSStyle questions you have..
it would be quite easy to put mario in the start panel..
let me know when you got a beta available..
also.. the WB version would be nice

little green mushroom guy would be quite easy to do..
So one could assume that pixtudio gave you permission?
yeah I did figure out how to put the mushroom guy in there and ja450n when I get this close to finish I'll send you a beta so you can fix the start menu. So far the top bar on the windows is completed but they do differ from the actualy ones because they do fit right up against the title. And umm....smoke....i didn't see no copyright in there 
and I don't really see how an European only thing can mean anything over here in the US cuz there is no copyright for that here cuz they aren't going to release it here. Besides it isn't like me releasing this for VS is going to hurt sells for Mario SunShine in Europe maybe give the game some more pubilicity and advertising so I don't really see how anyone would care and I don't feel like it is fair for us americans not being offered the same chance of downloading those nintendo themes for free after buying the same game that in Europe would give you access to a free theme. 
Actually, nintendo games *are* copyright. Actually, no one specifically states copyright on their themes. But I happen to know that Alexandrie made that theme.
Actually you can do whatever you want. I am just saying whenever you are doing a port that you know specifically is by a certain artist you need to get permission. I mean, OS ports are fair game... but this isn't an OS port.

I'm not trying to take credit for anyones theme......shoot if I was in that kinda business I wouldn't have asked premission from Josh to let me add his icons with my Mario Sunshine background for the Y'z Dock. Also I wasn't saying the games aren't copyrighted, but I'm not distributing nintendo games just a theme that is normally allowed for only European owners of a gamecube and gamecube games. I didn't know that the authors name was Alexandrie but I did realize it is made by Pixtudio and I am going to make that clear in my readme that Pixtudio created this theme for Windowblinds for nintendo and Alexandrie is the author of the theme.

the GUI in an OS has been designed by an artist.
therefore, according to you it is copywritten, and requires permission to be ported.
but you contradict your self.
by saying OS Ports are fair game.
they are NOT.
a port is a modification of someone ELSE's work. plain and simple..
someone created the original, and has every right to say what happens with it.
just because it's an OS, doesn't mean it's fair game.
Apple happens to OWN a Copyright, on the AQUA-User interface.
as does Microsoft, with the Luna interface, and Palm, with he BeOS interface.. etc, etc...

this font is copywritten by Bigelow & Holmes
and is NOT a freeware font. (actually part of a pay for font oack for adobe)

well I have to do the scroll bar and a few button changes and I also have to change the basic colors like on borders and buttons for programs that aren't completely theme aware which is actually the most confusing part for me cuz I'll fix one part of it then mess up another -.- . I'd like to know where to get that wallpaper as well anyone know?

i'm working on creating a similar wallpaper..
actually I may have the wallpaper cuz I got the full package of that mario sunshine theme today but I need Winstyles to run it and I haven't installed that yet.
actually you could probobly just extract the theme parts..
without installing winstyles.
if you need it. i can let you borrow a copy of winstyles..

ok I am very close to being done but I need Ja450n to impliment that start menu he made =) cuz well I got no clue on how to put mario in there. And one of the major issues I am having right now is that the png images I save do not appear to be transparent like it should be. Anyone know why? I saved the png with photoshop with alpha transparency but it just doesn't do right in the skin o0.
any progress on this visual style?
