The One Yzdock Feature I Miss

in the end, objectdock's taskbar converted me, but I sorely miss Yz Dock's feature: return focus to window when mouse leave.

this was awesome because even if the dock was behind some windows, all you had to do was drag the mouse all the way to the top (or bottom, or side) of the screen and the dock would pop up. As soon as you were done launching or whatever, YzDock would send the focus back to the last window that you were using before you "touched" the dock and all was well. OD does this all up until your mouse leaves the dock. Focus stays on the dock and you need to click whatever window to bring it back to focus.

just a little rant I guess. Maybe the feature will get added someday..

That's very true.

It's such a wonderful feature, which is why I am still sticking to YzDock... and also because it's a great dock as well.

I don't know... I mean, why don't you switch back? I've lived without the need for the taskbar.

Seems like the only way to bring you back is when someone makes a similar docklet for YzDock. That would have been a wonderful idea.

it's been discussed before, but yz docklets ( I don't think ) can add multiple icon spaces..if this has changed since I last checked someone should get on it

I've been using both Objectdock (at work) and Mobydock (here at home). Quite frankly I find Moby a lot easier to configure and maintain than OD. The feature you are looking for is in Mobydock. I also find that Mobydock actually comes to the top layer in z-order better than objectdock.

I like to see the dock at all times, so gHide isn't really my cup of tea. nothing beats the YzDock feature because it was built in and didn't need a seperate app to do it

There is a docklet that adds running tasks to YzDock. Which can be found at www.dockex.com. I don't really miss the running tasks of OD or Mobydock. I did miss the performance of YzDock though.

I must have a special version of ObjectDock because once I'm done mousing over the dock, focus returns to the window I was at before. I have always-on-bottom set with mouse activation checked.

I think the feature your talking about is the only feature of yz that I dislike. I really don't like that yz can steal focus by just having your mouse near the edge of your screen it would have been great if you could turn this option off. Also if you want a task bar check out the tasks docklet for yz I know some people have even skinned it and it looks really nice. I think yz is the best its what I use now until I have to run an app that covers the screen then I close it down so it doesn't interupt the app.

One note about this, ObjectDock does do this as well, just that it only kicks in if you have it to "Always be on bottom"

Logically if its in "Normal z-order" and mouse activation is on, if it's activated by the mouse then it should stay on top until you deactivate it as something that acts like a normal window should.

However if "Always On Bottom" is selected, then logically it should always be on bottom, unless of course temporarially activated by the mouse. When activated by the mouse it will come to the foreground, only to drop back to the background after the mouse leaves.

when I set it to Always on Bottom, the dock hides even if autohide is off. I don't know why.

i just wasted 2 hours of my life fooling around with object dock. what a piece of garbage. the thing has crashed on me around 15 times now and i'm going back to y'z dock immediately. unbelievably overhyped piece of hot trash OD is. sure i like the tasks and screenshots of tasks and hiding windows taskbar but whats the point when the thing crashes every 10 minutes

Well, I guess O.D is the nice program also, but every time I use O.D, I just got amazed

by talent of mr. yamaguchi. I mean how less memory it uses how smoothly it runs

compare to O.D even as individual programer not a huge software company such as stardock think about how much he did achieve, and how more he could have .....

Just amazing....

No wonder apple had a fear.....

might want to open it up can check it out..

open CurrentTheme.ini

can see that

Autohide=0

and not

Autohide=1

you also might want to save your dock settings too.. sometimes when object dock closes and opens again it trys to reload your theme.. so its always good o save any changes you do.. so you wont have to keep saving it over and over..

also the most current ver of objectdock is 1.0 build 285

so maybe you might want to update.. mght fix any bugs that are floating within your version..

yeah I've got the lastest version and whenever I click the dropdown menu to select Always on Bottom and select it, the dock disappears like it is auto hiding, but auto hiding isn't checked.

I tried mobydock and I didn't like it. it didn't go well with my system. but I loved all the features that came with it. They were excellent and exactly what I wanted. The only problem was it was fairly shaky when I was running it so I decided to go back to yzdock

although, I did download albeik's new version of tasks docklet for YzDock and it rocks. pretty much just what I was looking for. I hope he continues developing this dock because this is what is keeping me using YzDock
