I was wondering that would it be possible to make a plugin to MSN6 or a mod that would alert you when someone sends you a message.
The default notification is so god-damn annyoing & had to be shut down. Something stylish would be nice - a flashing thingy on desktop or taskbar perhaps.. errIdontknow.

I am looking for a visual notification (when you recive a message).
Maybe some semi- / transparent logo (with always on top option) that would flash or do something else when a certain event happens. Like message from specific user/ any user/ login-out.. I dont know if such a thing could be even done, but take a look at the screen below. I had something like this in mind & am sure that here are people more competent than me for further suggestions upon this matter.
Oh god, seems too difficult. What do you think? Is it even possible?

no i think it can be done <_< . im not sure bout the flashing of fading bit yet, but i can replace what is called the "toast" windows with a single logo.

i do agree with the bit that says about the badly designed notification box. but i am not quite sure whether a replacement would be smart :shy: . sorry, no offence to 'the unknown' and 'timberg'. there's a simple solution, i mean, if you turn the notification box off, whenever someone sends you a msg, the msn logo would bounce/glow on your dock (i.e. i assume you guys use the objectdock). isn't that good enough?! (Y)

not good enough for me. I am using YZ dock (or whatever it's called) and it has "autohide" mode switched on.. so it wouldnt bother me when I dont need it. glowing dock thingy would be useless for me.
hmm, in that case i guess you do need sth like that. i was quite loyal to y'z dock before but now i use objectdock cos of the integration with objectbar... anyway, let's hope unknown comes up with sth eye-openning. :woot:

Perhaps a glowing dockelt would be useless for you, but I think it's a great idea to create something like that. I'd love something like that for Object Dock.

i use OD on auto hide and it seems that maybe it is a bug, but whenever something bonuces.. it bounces just enough into the screen even when in autohide that you can see the top third of the screen
so, what we need to do is ask for an MSN 6 docklet to be developed... that however has been mentioned numerous times before and since im no coder, we still have no docklet.
as for the modded not box... i just got back from a weeks holiday so ill do my best when time permits.

in OS X the icon bounces above the "AutoHide" so u would have an icon from below the screen
