The Mac Osx Look

Hi,

i'm a relatively new OS customizer, but i'm in love with MACs since ever, as most of you guys, and its so cool to find out that we're actually thousands :P

What i want to know is how to really give my XP a MAC feel.

I actually use:

-Iceman's Aqua theme for StyleXP with a Panther Visual Style (because i like the sounds of the iceman's theme but i dont like that aqua. The Panther looks a lot better)

-A MAC OSX Logon screen

-Icon packager with G5 icons, mixed with some regular OSX icons

-Yz Dock

and my PC actually looks like this:

The LOGON

The THEME

But i've seen some themes, for windowblinds that actually put the minimize, close buttons on the left side and add the other button to the right side.

Also, i've seen on Iceman's Emulation page that it is possible, with his emulation files, to make the start bar look just like the MAC one. I think he made some changes that make the start bar have the normal windows tools and menus...

Can that be done with other program? I mean, his website isn't updated in a while so i thought you guys could have an easier way to make that change...

So, where is the BEST MAC OSX "simulator"?

What themes?

What Icons (for icon packager, if possible)?

Please post links to your machines screen printings, if possible, so we can all see how far you've gone :)

1. You can use ShellWM to change the button location.

2. Best way to change icons is by hacking your DLL files.

3. You can use ObjectBar (not free) to recreate the OSX "Finder" (bar at the top of the screen).

That should give you enough. Go explore. There's years worth of info on this site. So remember, the search button is your friend.

#95197

thanks but i dont know how to hack DLL files :/ (yet)

do the windowblind themes change the buttons location?

#95205

Yes, WB changes the button locations. It's all part of the themes you apply. ;)

And as you trudge further down the modding path, you might want to attempt to use some of the following applications as well...

- DesktopX

- Objectbar

- Samurize

- Y'z Toolbar

- Some system transformation packs... (Search the forums, there are a few available.)

Just to list a few...

Take your time... there's still lots waiting to be unravelled! :who's your daddy:

Enjoy modding! :D

ok one thing i really noticed that was missing was a the font. are u using lucida grande, with clear type.

also there are apps to give windows shadows, this makes windows look less flat.

i use yzshadow, but theres also windows fx.

good luck (Y)

also check the front page. crni made a new panther theme for objectbar. btw i guess you are what we really call a n00b (no offence. just means you're new to this site. i am not a n00b anymore but i did only join in october)

#95449

before i accidently partitioned my HD (to put Linux on) and accidently shrunk Windows to 1.2Gb (try and run on that you b****** :6 ) I had WindowBlinds 4, ObjectDock, ObjectSplash, Y'z Toolbar and ObjectBar running and it looked pretty convicing. I also suggest DesktopX 2.0. Most of these are availible from Stardock

[offtopic]If anyone would like to know how to get rid of the recycle bin on the desktop PM me[/offtopic]

@TheBigB: I didn't know you'd only joined in October! oh well...

for docks, my there is mobydock, objectdock, yzdock(which we are not allowed to tell you where to get, but you can find out where to get it easily with a search  ), and there are possibly some others floating around that arent very well known.

i suggest packs aqua mod for a whole system icons change, it is really good, but it is like jaguar, not panther.

yzshadow is very good, and very aesthetically pleasing. pretty much, just look around the forums and you will find pretty much everything you could ever want. these forums are great

Also turn on "cleartype" font smoothing instead of the default which is standard.

hey thankyou so much for all your help!

heres how my desktop looks now:

http://olha.woda-se.com/data/media/10/Capture_0907_58_50.jpg

(i've uninstalled stylexp and installed windowblinds. i'm currently using Panther theme)

this is all from Xero's pack. its the best one i've found!

but dont like the objectbar too much :/ it seemed a bit unstable, i dont know if it was because of my windows language being portuguese... and also its a bit big, and i use 1024+768 resolution. i was expecting something closer to the actual theme's bar. the object bar seemed a bit bigger. but i'll give it another try with those OB themes you linked up there ;)

thankyou

btw, has any of you tried the iceman's emulation system files? do those files change your bar with no need of object bar?

iceman should release a panther version :P

Download Stefanka's system files, and get run the auto script.

If you want an easy way to replace dlls, get "replacer", its a command prompt based prog, all you have to do is drag in the original file, and drag the old one and reboot. No hassle, windows doesn't replace it, and replacer automatically saves the old file in case you need it again in its folder.

A fellow portuguese MAC Fan

^_^

I recommend you to use Three Drivers Panther Style, on minus for ya is that the buttons are in the right side, not left. And thats the way I like :)

Yzshadows, and Yztoolbar

Get Opera Webbrowser, with Cocoa Skin

Jaguar Sounds

New Icons (Icemans Site)

New Icons (Icon Packager ones)

New Docklets (Yzdock)

And Stick with this forums for some more time

Remember to visit Aquaxp.com

Download FlykiteSPpack 4.0

And you will be happy

Do you use MSN, AIM ???
