i have a trial version of winrar that says it runs out in a few days, but i was wondering if there is a non-wares, non trial version of winrar for windows. thanks for any help
[request]winrar
hmmm
hv u tried Stuff It Expander, it`s a free version of Stuff It and i think it supports .rar :/
PS WAREZ IS BAD, if u use it u will  in :hell:
Just use the trial version for ever, thats what I do. Stuffit expander I use to handle every other file out there BUT RAR and also stuff for ISO's (movies).
Its little popup "extract where?" is much handier than a window opening every time with WinRAR.
Use a free file format for your compression, and never have to worry about it.
May I suggest gzip or bzip2?
Use Zip Genius. It is 100% free and will remain free.
It opens rar, jar, gz, zip, bzip, and many many more.
@Enhanced & Unbeliever - thanks for the suggestions, i'm going to check them out.
@contra - i would do that for my personal files, but not everybody uses those compressions, unfortunately. so i need to be able to use .rar
7zip Highest compresion ratio of anyof them out there, completely open source, intergrates into shell like winrar, decompreses faster and more 'clean' (less errors) that winrar, and its completely open source.
rooskee: The point is that its a free format, so you can ALWAYS find a free program to uncompress them. You don't have to make other people search for a program, and possibly have to pay for one.
Look at all the trouble you're going through, why make other people do the same?
i aggree with you contra, but i still need to be able to decompress .rar files because other people use them.
Or maybe you should check out PowerArchiver? It takes a LOT of file formats, including .rar
