[help] Explorer Window Size

is there a reg edit or tweak or anything that will allow me to change the default size a folder will open as.

i know i can change them, but i find myself constantly changing window sizes after a restart or with a window i haven't opened for a while.

i'm runnin 1024.768 and the default folder window size is like 65-75% of my screen. damn annoying. any way to make it smaller by default?

ps. i tried searching, couldn't find anything

resize it and it'll maintain that size by default.

also, make sure that in folder options, you check the option to remember each folder's settings.

if that doesn't work, you can do this.

regedit > HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU

and

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags

delete "BagsMRU" and "Bags" and restart. this will reset all your folder settings.

then get yourself a copy of tweakui (the latest one) and change the explorer option to remember more than 400 folders, like 800.

now you can set each folder's settings individually and the size will be saved.

damn good advice. at the moment I dont have this problem but used to and I still remember how I struggeled with windows.

in tweak, i upped the number of remembered folders to 800. hope this works, thanks dreamz.

if it doesn't, though, you'll need to delete those reg keys to reset everything, but now you know.

good luck! :)

Sorry to dig this one up, but...

I would like to know how to change the default size of all windows. I don't want to have to set all of the windows to my preferred size by hand.

So basically, is there any way to change the default opening size of every single window at once? (I'm not talking about the views, mind you, I'm talking about the size.)

Thanks for your time,

EDIT: So is this possible?... Not Possible? Nobody can point me in the right direction? A reg-edit perhaps?

...Anyone?

not sure, but the "apply to all folders" work?

#193139

Nah... I think that only pertains to the view (List/Details/Icons/etc) that you want all of the folders to share. I think the easiest thing to do would be to find the registry value that determines the default window size and changing it. The problem is that I know nothing about regediting.

But thanks for the answer!

Don't double post, SHeLL, in an effort to get more attention on the topic.

If people are going to respond further, then they will.

As it stands, however, Dreamz has already provided the solution - it does work with regards to sizing. I know, because I've done it myself on this very machine.

Have anyone found a way to set the default folder size of Explorer, either by regedit or hex edit explorer.exe?

I've tried to live with workarounds like 2000 shell folder bags memory and a resident program like zMover resizing automatically windows with certain names like My Computer and Desktop but these workarounds doesn't help when I open a brand new folder.

Welcome.

Just a quick note, try not to bump really old threads in the future.

I'm using Autosizer which enables an onclass basis. Essentially evertime I'm open a folder it is centered and sized.
