1. Open up file 'boot.ini' located in c:\, take a look and you can change everything that's between the quotes (").

2. You can specify windows folder name when installing, but there's no safe way to rename 2 other folders. There are loads of applications that will cause problems because of it.

3. Impossible. Apart of that it's not C:/, it's C:\ ;)

Sorry but it's. Hmmm... maybe not safe :lol: but I did it some time ago and i didn't have any problems. All apps work fine.

@CyberWoofer: I posted links to tutorials on AquaXP in your thread.

its no great problem, assuming u do it from a CLEAN install (wipe the drive and start again) of windows. applications use system variables for these three folders so their names dont matter. however if u already have windows installed along with your apps, and then u renaming it youll run into no end of trouble. it can be done but it takes a hell of a long time.

Exactly, that's what I meant.

How to saftley re-name the WINDOWS folder, the PROGRAM FILES folder and the DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS folder

To the Windows folder: You can change it if you make an upgrade. Start the XP CD inside some previous windows (98, Me or 2000) and search for advanced installation options. The new XP should be in the desired folder.

To the program files and documents and settings, i recommend downloanding a program named TWEAK-XP (www.tweakxp.com). I usually do this before doing any changes:

1. Make a copy the prog-files folder and rename it the way you want ( let's say, "applications");

2. the same for docs and sets ("home");

3. Open Tweak XP and change the folders to the desired ones;

4. Reboot and delete the older folders

That's it! :who's your daddy:
